|
 |
Hello humpers!
I feel like playing some RTS games, haven't played the genre for a long time, so i've been kind of out the loop on what's good and what to stay away from.
I've searched the forum for RTS recommendation threads here and all i see is games either set in the sci-fi universe or WW2/Current wars (tanks and shizzle).
What i'd like is medieval type, archers and swords, catapults and ballistas and so forth.. Dragons and trolls are fine as well, as long as i can rain down on them with my archers, i do love them archers!
I like the armies to be on a big scale, not just bring 5 of the strongest units and annihilate everything.
I've never really been into the turn based stuff, but if there is something on just a legendary scale i just should play, i can try that out.
Thanks

Maybe look into the Stronghold series? I think the latest (Stronghold 3) was received poorly, but unless you need eye candy to play, some of the earlier games in the series could be worth trying.

Stronghold Legends, Spellforce (mix of RTS and RPG elements, quite well done), Warhammer: Mark of Chaos+Battle March.
As for extremely big armies, well, Medieva2: Total War fits the bill. On the other hand, you have to cope with the TBS management part.

King Arthur (don't know about King Arthur 2) it's similar to Total War but obviously set in a more fantasy oriented setting. But like with Total War you have to go through the turn based campaign map.
edit:
Noooo! There can only be ONE COOKIE MONSTER AVATAR!!! ARRRRRRR

Thanks guys, the gameplay of Total War / King Arthur looks pretty nice, will try them out and see how i feel about the turn based stuff.
I saw that Stronghold 3 was on sale for cheap but then i read the reviews and steered away from that, will look into the older games.

From the guys that did King Arthur: Lionheart-King's Crusade and Crusaders:Thy Kingdom Come.
If you can stomach the mix of TBS and RTS(and i can), you are in or a treat.

Give Heroes of Annihilated Empires a try if you have not already. It's fairly old but still plays and looks great.
