'Krait' is looking like the new daddy, Snapdragon4

http://www.anandtech.com/show/5559/qualcomm-snapdragon-s4-krait-performance-preview-msm8960-adreno-225-benchmarks/1

probably best to wait for the new Adreno300 models which will be faster still.

wonder how the other new chips coming out will stack up?

Nope. This is the future.

Also, do phones need dual-quad-cores? I mean what are you gonna compute? mathematical formulas?

That's because these aren't just phones any more, they're portable media and gaming devices.

Just look how smoothly N8 runs Sybian with only 600Mhz cpu.

Try playing Infinity Blade II or Galaxy on Fire HD with that Smile

I don't play video games on my device. nor do I watch 1080p movies. I have my PC & Xbox & Dedicated media streaming player.

I have no need to be connected 24/7h. But it's just me and I might be different from all the cool people using Iphone or an adroid smartphone

What I hate the most is the battery life. with 3G on and texting the phone does not last more then 4hrs. Probably would die in 1hr of gaming...that is unless we get some nano-batteries or something to improve life

EDIT: On other hand, on March 7 we will see iPad3

I don't see what the problem is of having a computationally strong phones. I mean imagine down the road, if we have a phone that is as powerful as the laptop - what do you need a laptop for? You put the phone on the dock, bluetooth keyboard + mouse and you go into full desktop mode. They already try to do this with tablets (and one phone), but I don't think we're there. But these huge devices, what is the point? They are so huge, you feel them in the pocket. What's the point?

That is a load of horse shit. If I only have 3G on and text a little, my phone'll last two days easily. Granted, it's not one of these new monsters, but it's also not as power efficient as these things are nowadays. More cores does not equal more power consumption.

4.7" is a bit too big for my liking though, the 3.7" on my Desire (and iPhone for example) feels good to me. 4.3" is doable.

4.7 is not a problem, as long as the phone doesn't get any bigger:)

No Micro SD sucks.

definitely, but not a deal breaker for me. after all I already deal with a 16gb iphone

definitely. being mobile at work is actually pretty important to me... I try not to print stuff so for meetings I read agendas/background materials on 3.5" which is hard (but we're not at the point that bringing a tablet to a meeting seems normal). Also web-browsing and reading PDFs. But hey, I was also considering the 5.3" note Razz
