EA tried to grab a slice of the cyberpunk/deus-ex genre market with this game. They've failed, hard, once again.

Though the only thing that stands out is the co-op, but def not worth a purchase.

The more cyberpunk failures, the less appealing the genre is to developers/publishers.. which is a massive detriment to the world. Cyberpunk is by far my absolute favourite setting.

I am getting a weird bug on milestone 13 (after the bridge trap, where you lose your chip enhancements). After the first firefight there is a door you are supposed to open, with the usual "hit F - keep bashing F until awesome happens" mechanic. But it glitches out on me somehow: when I do that, nothing happens - the prompts appear and then just disappear and the door remains closed... and if I shoot at the door it actually bleeds Very Happy

Tried reloading the checkpoint a few times... still happens.

I fixed the problem by using the 3dm crack instead of skidrow's.

skidrows crack tries to allocate memory (~61mb worth!) at hard coded. addresses... with no error checking.. unpack the dll, you will see the size grow..

their crack also hooks GetSystemInfo api and fakes that the pc is a quad core, which may also cause problems..

skidrow crack is a variation on 3dms (ie: very similar method), but i imagine noone is surprised by that

PC vs console builds face off: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-syndicate-face-off

Quote:
On a basic level, the core artwork has been upgraded and the visible mip-map transitions when streaming are almost completely gone, although curiously we find that the level of anisotropic filtering has been dialled back compared to the 360, instead appearing to be a closer match to the PS3 game.

Higher resolution textures are used extensively across the characters and environments on PC, along with use of higher quality LOD models both in-game and during the cut-scenes. However, the difference is very subtle when playing, and we get the feeling that the additional detail doesn't really come through as much as we'd hoped given the heavy use of post-processing effects.

When it comes to close-up shots of the characters or certain sections of the environment, the difference is far more pronounced: finer details appear visibly clearer and much crisper, and this is made more obvious when upping the resolution beyond 720p. While texture detail doesn't appear to scale the further you move up the resolution chain, the added pixel precision when running in 1080p means that the benefits gained from the higher quality art are visible from further away, while the post-processing better complements the overall look of the game.

Just like the console versions, Syndicate on PC lacks the use of traditional anti-aliasing, instead relying on a similar post-process edge filter - suggesting the use of a deferred rendering set-up. As such we don't really see a major boost in overall image quality, although we do find that jaggies are reduced by an increase in motion blur. We also find that on a more general level, post-AA's pixel-crawling artifacts are less impactful on image quality at higher resolutions - something the PC version obviously supports.

Elsewhere, we're given the option of using a higher precision framebuffer format in the form of RGBA16 (RGBA8 is also available) allowing for more accurate tone mapping when rendering HDR lighting. Motion blur is also given a higher precision implementation, which is used more liberally than on consoles. The result is an effect that enhances the presentation, delivering an extremely fluid 60FPS, but at the slight expense of raw sharpness - in some sections, the PC version doesn't look quite as clear as the console builds, although this isn't something that can be easily picked up on when seeing the game running in motion. In higher resolutions well beyond 720p, this is barely apparent at all.

Even the video sequences seem to be of a higher quality than those in the console builds.

I've tried playing some more but there's nothing to do, I desperately need a fix for the fov and weird mouse acceleration, it's bugging me a lot more than the bloom, and that's saying something.

Aside from the linearity and extreme hand-holding, the gameplay/story seem to be both rather uninspired so far, although there are some good aspects too, like the music and some locations, which can be definitely suggestive at times (<3 cyberpunk).

Everything could have been more enjoyable if the devs had spent at least 5 minutes on the PC version instead of serving us this glaring piece of s..traight port Razz. In its current state it's a 5/10 game for me.

I don't believe so, no. It's an Origin game and requires Origin for MP .. BUT! TeknoGods said they're working on a co-op LAN fix.

Apparently the co-op is supposed to be the real selling point, heh. It'd be interesting to see what classic S/SWARS missions look and play like in this version. Also, you get to upgrade and customise your weapons - something omitted from the SP campaign.

I'm lucky that FoV doesn't bother me.

Probably because I'm using 15.6" laptop to play it, thus screen width is more appropriate for such narrow FoV.

Ok, now it's just getting weird.
No mention of the eyeball-stabing bloom on RPS, and now the same for this Eurogamer face-off.

Couldn't this really be some sort of copy protection mechanism?

Just finished this POS. My I head hurts like hell. I bet some people got photo seizure from it.
Anyway took me ~5 hours to finish it on normal. The story, the enviroments are meh. IMHO the graphics are on HL 2 level. The whole time I wanted to kill that bitch Lily.
On the positive side I liked the gun's sounds.

I am guessing DICE had their hand in the audio for this game again, that's why sound effects kinda stand out.

I made my assumption based on the sound settings (which are pretty much the same as in recent frostbite games) and it kinda sounds familiar. I haven't checked the credits to confirm though...

Also finished it on normal and enjoyed myself with it. The small fov didn't bother me, I used the antilag fix to get proper mouse controls and wore sunglasses against the ridiculous amount of bloom Laughing
It's really not that bad, just an average shooter. I didn't expect much and was not disappointed. I didn't encounter a crash, or bugs, and had a solid 60fps.
You don't have to make use of the one button kill move, just limit yourself to standard gunplay and it's good fun.

There are so few cyberpunk games that really make me sit up and take notice. Hard Reset came oh-so close, the only failing(!) being the Painkiller-esque nature of the game. It just ended up being an amazingly pretty corridor shooter, when it could have been so much more.

Dunno if it was here

But still if they think i will give a shit about game that "developers spent several years developing this game" and they did release this crappy shit that look like my balls, and even Duke Nukem Forever was better looking/playing game, then i will really give them the credit for having the balls saying this.
