GT5 runs at 960x1080, not 720p, which can cause quite the jaggies.

It can run at 1280x720 with 4xMSAA or 1280x1080 with blur (aka QAA), depending on what you set your console to (source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-gran-turismo-5-tech-analysis ).
Not that I want to defend the game, I can't understand where the 70 million dollar budget went into when 80% of the cars were recycled from GT4 and the gameplay has barely changed, but Polyphony made one of the few PS3 games that can handle 720p with 4xMSAA on the RSX (albeit with horrendous tradeoffs at transparencies).

I'm sure they could, but with Codemasters and their Derp series that are dominating that part of the market I don't think they'll bother. All the rally sims released so far have been a failure in terms of sales :/

I'll give that a go, because right now it just looks terrible, and it really doesn't even look like upscaled 720p :/

Just could not wait for a fix to come out and oh i should say the game rocks finished it in 2 hours and 30 minutes wished it was longer than that but i bet there will be a sequel to it.
Any good other racing game that i could play i already completed the below:
Shift2
Hot Pursuit
Driver San Francisco
NFS The Run.
What would you suggest folks?

In case you can't find it (since Juls removed the download links and Racedepartment's download section is down) I still have the mod in my archive

Also make sure to fiddle with the speed sensitivity/linearity or whatever it was called (don't have Shift 2 installed right now ). Those are the biggest influences

After patches, lag is gone for me. If its still there you can simply edit Shift2unleashed\controllerdefaults\pc\"your controller" file- and change DampeningEnabled="0".
Recently i bought Logitech DFGT, and i thought that it will take some time to setup it right but default setting are PERFECT- i changed nothing. Awesome game!

I want to give this another try and i see some of you managed to get the thing working properly, here's what i need if you would be so kind:
- custom config for controller, default one sucks
- graphical mods if there are any, or something that improves handling considerably
- DLC cracked release or how to get the game completely unlocked
- cracked release of the latest patch
No, i'm not requesting the cracks, just the releases so i'll look for them myself.
Thanks

First apply the official patches (they're really the official ones, as in they're not cracked):
SHIFT2U1.01 (not sure if it's still needed or the 1.0.2.0 includes this as well)
shift2u_v1.0.2.0
After that apply this (it should have the 1.0.2.0 crack included):
Shift.2.Unleashed.Legends.SpeedHunters.DLC
Now apply these mods (in this order):
Unofficial Community Patch
Ultimate mod UCP Compatible
Polish Tyre Mod (PTMu)
Cockpit Cam - Speed DOF & Look to Apex ON-OFF (I recommend this option: Speed DOF - Seat Fore OFF + Seat Back ON + Visor OFF)
As for sensivity controls, it depends on what gamepad you have. I have one of those Dual Triggers from Thrustmaster and while the game supports it, it's felt harder to get the settings right for it, plus I couldn't skip that intro from the race for example (for some reason it's only possible with a xshit controller). I used that xshit controller universal emulator and now the game sees mine as one. I'll post a screenshot with my settings for that (but this thing is really subjective after all).
Also, at Controls, put the preset config on Xbox 360 Controller for Windows - Default and only after configure your controls.
Not sure if they fixed this in a patch or not (I don't think so), but the really high graphics options are hidden. You need to go to My Documents and in the game's folder there is a graphicsconfig.xml file. Open it with notepad and put them like these for the best settings (I only have AA on 1 + some FXAA for performance reasons, but put it on 2 if your PC can take it):

Speed sensitivity and linearity are the two settings you need to play around with until it feels right for you.

Ok, i managed to find a good setting for the controller, now just install those DLC's.
the game is actually playable once you fiddle around with it, even then some cars are complete crap (Mustang, Stingray, Cobra, etc)

My settings are very similar to DR's (I'm with the 360 controller), except for the steering deadzone set on 5 and the other ones on 10. I even tried to increase the steering sensitivity but it makes the wheel behave unrealistically, imo.
Speed sensitivity is also another important aspect, and since the PTMu completely changes the handling the car becomes almost "undrivable" with default value (100). DR's settings are good

Quick question, have most of the technical problems this game supposedly had been fixed through the updates on Steam? I hear the latest patches never got a scene release, so I'd like to know if they make a difference.

Yes patches fixed a lot of stuff, but if you want the perfect experience you have to rely on the awesome modding community and their Unofficial Patch, very recommended:

Hey DarkRohirrim, I installed all those mods in that same order, however, I noticed that the UCP I downloaded (latest one) has a version number 1.099e. The Ultimate mod that is installed later supposedly includes UCP 1.06. Doesn't that kind of invalidate the newer 1.099e UCP install?

Hmm, I'm not sure. Try installing the new UCP version after the Ultimate Mod I guess. I think I only have the 1.06 one, since the new one wasn't available when I installed them. Also, isn't the UCP optional in the Ultimate Mod?

Yeah, you have the option of use some "packed" files. Should I extract those to MODS\<ucp-folder>\pakfiles? Or should they go in the default Shift2U\pakfiles folder?
EDIT: forget that shit. There's a more interesting problem. One of the packed files included in the Ultimate Mod is BOOTFLOW.bff. But the Cockpit Cam mod also includes that file, so if I use the latter the Ultimate Mod would be invalidated as well!
I guess I would have to unpack the BOOTFLOW.bff file from Ultimate Mod and add the files from the unpacked Cockpit Cam BOOTFLOW.bff and then repack.
EDIT 2: Ok, done. The only difference was that the Ultimate Mod unlocks several cars from the get go. I created a new BOOTFLOW.bff that includes all the goodies from Cockpit Cam Mod but also adds the unlocks from Ultimate Mod. Tested and it works.

This sounds so fucking good! Just had a quick drive in a Ferrari F430, and the engine roar gave me goosebumps.
