Deus Ex vibe? Funny, to me it felt more like Derp Effect and Derps of War.

Not about the gameplay obviously, but the setting, megacorporations, brain chips, hacking, conspiracy, etc etc.

Gameplay aside (which i can't judge since i haven't played it yet), the settings seems fantastic. Hope the story will be good enough.

I was dicking around with the activation as well, I can't of course pass it but I got it down to Feb 20th 16.00 after a few tries.
(Whatever country MY is - Malaysia? - it will work just fine.)

(SE - Feb 23rd 00.00 / US - Feb 24th 01.00 / MY - Feb 20th 16.00 which is more than fine.)

EDIT: HK (Hong Kong) gives the same date so any Asian VPN connection seems OK.
(Which gives Theta and Skidrow and whoever else in the scene or around it whom downloaded this about a four day head start, ha ha.)

EDIT: BR (Brazil) gave Feb 21st 09.00 so that could also be useful.

Why isn't the demo available on PC?
The team focused on making the full game as great as it could be rather than using additional resources to create a PC demo. We hope that once you get your hands on the full game on February 21st you'll love the PC experience for Syndicate.

....

More like "PC version is a cheap port and we don't expect it will sell well but we'll release it anyway for the extra $$$, so why bother with a demo".

I like Starbreeze but I'm sure this will be a very standard console shooter, and I think multiplayer will last less than two weeks.

It's EA's Crysis 2 for 2012. Cool Face

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

game looks fun, will try the iso demo but from all the bashing here I might buy it just to mess with all the derps bashing the game before they've even seen any kind of proper gameplay video.

Funny that, considering there have been plenty of gameplay videos so far. I do believe you've mistakenly projected your own derpness onto others According to some; you can't complain or have an opinion based on videos.. and according to others, you can't complete or have an opinion based on a demo. So come Sherlocks, when CAN people have an opinion? Oh... wait, I forgot door #3 -- you only have a legal right to an opinion once you've BOUGHT the game. Got it.

No, door #3 ain't right either because you can't complain about something that you don't like. If you do that you're a legit troll and a filthy hater. And If you don't like the game, why did you buy it in the first place? grinhurt

Its just a name and more importanly just a game. Bashing people who look forward to play this is kinda childish and scary tbh...

Are there rpg elements? Like can you upgrade your character with better health, better armor, hacking abilities etc?

As i said before everything about this game seems good. The problem is that it will sell, and if it will sell well we can say goodbye to ever see a strategic syndicate game again.

That's what a name can do Very Happy

@ Lokhart: It's not "just a name". It's the name of one of the most widely praised and loved games of the last two decades (been 19 years since Syndicate already). I can't remember anyone doing anything like this with a film or book; use the exact same name but go in a completely opposite direction with everything but the general setting.

I have no doubt that the game itself will in fact not be aweful. Better yet, it might very well be very enjoyable and I'll certainly find that out with an ISO demo (all the videos point towards an action oriented Deus Ex, which doesn't have to be bad). What it isn't however, IS A GODDAMN REBOOT LIKE THEY SAY IT IS
Rage

It's okay though, I'll take my rose tinted glasses and nostalgia, go sit in a corner and wait for the Theme Hospital "reboot", where you play a murderous psycho in an immersive visceral third person action shooter.

In addition to those, Magic Carpet should be the new name for the ultimate driving simulator (Laughing). Dungeon Keeper definitely needs to be remade into a shooter as well, where every 2 seconds you get a QTE to dodge the keeper's hands to make it truly next-gen.

I just had a horrifying vision of Magic Carpet Undergroud, where you and your fellow Arabian princes all compete in a Carpet race. You can trick out your carpet with "sweet mods", like chrome trimming, carbon-fibre weave and neon strips! Listen to banging tunes from the likes of N-Dubz and 50cent!

I was thinking about an GoW style remake. Magic Carpet is just the name for some Superweapon to destroy the Alien Invasion. You, Col. Hassir gather up a bunch of 2ft tal Space-Marines to find it. Magic Carpet: Arabian Roids (!) Laughing

Well, in your and mine case they can just use GT5's engine Sabin, that already drives like a Magic Carpet (which is what I was hinting at Razz)!

But we're derailing, we're supposed to be bashing this game out of nostalgia, not EA's future reboots!

"25 jobs cut at Starbreeze following Syndicate completion

Swedish developer Starbreeze is cutting 25 jobs following the completion of Syndicate for publisher Electronic Arts.

Board member Peter Tornquist will resign from Starbreeze's board with no replacement planned.

"It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees. But we have to reduce staff after the final delivery of the Syndicate," offered Mikael Nermark, CEO of Starbreeze.

The Syndicate remake is released next week and has been in development for a number of years under the codename Project RedLime. "
