Reviewers who have probably received their AMD Radeon HD 7700 series samples by now, were taken aback when they found a prescription medication bottle in their packages. No NVIDIA-styled Press Deck booklet, or even former-ATI styled Ruby doll, but a medicine bottle, which reads "Verdetrol". The label directed them to insert the blue capsules inside it to the heat vents of the graphics card, when benchmarking, so it "acts as a performance enhancement".
The point in all this? Apparently AMD's Radeon HD 7770 features 1 GHz core clock speed out of the box, making it the first GPU ever to do so, and AMD wants to make a song and dance about it. What's more, AMD will use a special branding called "GHz Edition" to mark all its future SKUs that come with 1 GHz (or more) GPU core clock speed, indicating that AMD has more SKUs in the pipeline with ≥1 GHz core clock speed. It doesn't stop with this hysterical medicine bottle thingie, no sir, AMD even set up ateaser site dedicated to "Verdetrol".

and ? when they drivers PC are crap ... they only create good hardware for consoles , XBOX360 GPU is proof of that

when i was on a ati it was... you need this driver for this game , this one for this game and when you want to repay this game you have to downgrade to this one... i said "NVIDIA TAKE MY MONEY" and bought a graphic card that has drivers that work with any PC game

herpa derpa, i posted like we were talking video cards.... Laughing

still though, nice to see they've figured out how to market and be funny, maybe one day they'll turn their attention to the technical aspects of the business.

Since getting my GTX570, I've had to switch drivers three times -- because a couple of my games ran like boiled ass with one revision, but other games ran fine.. and vice versa. As for ATi? I only ever had to switch drivers for two games -- Elite Force II and Soldier of Fortune 2 Very Happy Those games, waaaaay back on something silly like Cat 8.6 or something, had serious OpenGL issues and it only got fixed with a later (or way earlier) driver. I installed Cat 8.8 and also had to reenable OGL Extensions -- and all the issues were gone. This was in 2008 - and I didn't have driver issues prior or since.

I'm sorry, but I've had a LOT more issues with nV drivers than I ever did with AMD. nV has an uncomfortable history of breaking large amounts of older titles with newer revisions of drivers .. I still remember being unable to play IGI or IGI2 for almost a year due to recent drivers at the time, I had to stay on older ones until nV eventually fixed it.

Then you are the exception and not the rule.
Have only ever had bad times with ATI software.

But i've not bought a AMD/ATI card in a few years now.

I don't think there are exceptions and rules nowadays.
My experience with the GPUs from both sides was roughly the same. The last Nvidia card throwing its "driver stopped responding and has recovered" messages at me was the most annoying issue I have encountered so far (besides a GPU dying on me that is Smile).

But I guess it still comes down to personal experience...

it's also the truth for the most part as well, your problems bring the grand total to....

1 anecdotal account of problems, not saying you're lying but the only trouble with nvidia drivers that exists is getting rid of the old ones cleanly and they've fixed that lately too.

i have to wonder, were your problems around the time they switched to the unified drivers? or before that?

Yes, nVidia switched to unified drivers when I bought my GTX570... it all makes sense now. It's kind of funny how when someone, and there have been MANY of us, mention having nVidia driver issues -- suddenly we're all liars and/or just mistaken. What next? Ah yeah... PEBKAC! Definitely not the Godly nVidia, oh no! Absolutely not Laughing

Let's see, that makes three sets of fans to watch out for now... Apple, Blizzard and nVidia.

For the record? I've owned more nV cards than ATi. Just sayin'

Aye, exactly. Mileage varies from person to person, BOTH camps have their issues and that's a fact.
