... the scroll wheel died on my beloved Logitech MX518 Crying or Very sad I've had this baby for almost seven years! I blame 9gaghump for all the damned image scrolling in the epic thread Razz Crying or Very sad The rest of the mouse is good as gold, can still middle click but I can't scroll anymore.

*sigh*

Time to get free-scroll wheel mouse, like MX Revolution or G9x. Smile You can't imagine how much better it is. There is just no replacing such wheel afterwards.

Naw, call me nuts but I actually don't like free-scroll -- I like the ratchet click of a standard wheel Very Happy

Both have their use. In games, I use the standard click one. But obviously for net and documents, you are nuts.

Oh, you mean the MXR and G9x has BOTH options? Clicky scroll and free scroll? Hmmm, thanks!

And you can always switch between freescroll and standard scroll:)

I think it was just a small metal spring (it's S shaped) that might've left it's place.

G500 can switch between freescroll and standard scroll too! (and it almost looks like your 518 Razz)

Well the cheapest MX-Rev I can find is £45 and the G9x is £50. Egh... I can get another MX518 for £25. I think that'll be my option if I can't fix the scroll wheel on this because, to be honest, I can't stand cordless mice anyhow -- and I'm used to my 518 grinhurt

That's the one my elder brother has and he loves it, but it's too bulky for me - I like the ergonomics of the 518. I gotta say though; the weights on the G500 are a godsend.

Fixed it ^_^ Weeee, thanks Pumpy! I guess that's a lesson I'd forgotten about; regular opening of the mouse to check for debris - the mouse wheel was icky, that's all Very Happy

My beloved MX518! Almost seven years, still going strong <3

I was considering an MX518 but no side-tilt wheel = no deal. Whirling cane

Wait..what? Razz

I know you got your 518 working again, but a G500 is identical to the G5/518/510/500 in shape. Literally Smile
The only thing different about a G500 is that the part where your thumb rests sticks out slightly more, like 5-6mm. You sure you got the right mouse in your head? Don't be fooled by how the cover on top looks; it makes it look a little different, but it really, really isn't Razz
The left/right click buttons are slightly longer, which again makes it LOOK bulkier.

That's the G500 (also has the free scroll + toggle like G9x).

Well I've used his mouse several times and I am absolutely positive of the fact that it is VERY much a larger device and doesn't fit my hand anywhere near as snugly as the 518. It's taller, wider and longer.

Well, no matter for me. =] For me, the G9[x] have been the most comfortable mice I have had. Will be tough choosing a mouse once G9x goes out of production in a few years.

It's the same way I feel about my MX5, I'm just hoping someone - somewhere - has a warehouse full of them so I can keep replacing it Very Happy I think the reason I believe the G500 to be bulky is because of the longer mouse buttons, higher palm "hump" and strange offshoot for the thumb. It's no biggy anyway, I'm just really glad I managed to get my wheel working again!

Dont you find that the "skins" of the g9x wears out too fast? Felt that way for me, replaced my G9X once both skins wore down with a Qpad 5k.
