Ok so i have been looking for a good pair of 7.1 Surround Sound headset that works for my 360 and PC. Problem is there are ton out there and its hard to find a good review.

The main things i am looking for:

*Comfort for long gaming sessions
*Wired or Wireless "Wired is preferred because i hate buying batteries"
*Microphone "Most have these"
*Price

I have looked at turtle beach headsets but i heard a lot of bad things about them.

Surround sound headphones aren't as good as people make them out to be. I fell for the marketing back when 5.1 was introduced. Basically you have a bunch of shitty little drivers with no characteristics to them so they can give you the "Feeling" that it might be coming from different directions. You still have drivers sitting on top of your ear, there's very little room for the positioning needed to gain the essence of surround sound.

Get some quality headphones like Sennheiser.

Roccat Kave review well.

I think that something like the Razer Carcharias would be good though.
Not a surround headset, but a good quality one.

I'll never suggest Roccat to anyone especially how they treated Epsilon.

I have used the Razer Carcharias, they're built really well and without exaggeration, I've never heard such a clear mic. I actually took my headphones off thinking my friend just walked in the door when she was talking over hers for the first time, I was so confused.

Would be terrible, all those small shitty speakers packed into one small tight area. I'm telling you, it's nothing more than a gimmick. You'll barely be able to distinguish rear from front. There are headphones that use some Dolby Digital virtualizing surround sound that you'd be better off with I guess.

You'd have to read reviews on it, try to find professional ones. You'd save some more time going over to a professional audio forum.

Ive got the Roccat Kaves... best headset I used. Mind you I came from the Medusa 5.1s which served me well up till this purchase.

Pinpointing enemies in BF3 is way simpler than I'd thought it would be and the bass on these things really shake your head off if put on max Smile

Mic is decent quality and sound isolation is amazing. With them on I cant hear someone talking right next to me whilst ingame Smile

But up to you, someone posted saying they advise against roccat. Like i said, first purchase from them and I'm a happy customer.

If we all stopped using a brand the second we read of a couple bad customer service experiences then we would have no brands to buy.

I'd rather have a quality stereo headset then the psuedo-surround bullshit headsets. A quality stereo setup can provide 'surround sound' anyways. A lot of people don't realize this.

I'm also not a fan of the fact that a lot of these headsets are USB. Just give me analog plugs and let me use my own sound solution.

I don't know about others, but Kave gets it's power from USB. Everything else comes from sound jacks.

REAL surround sound headsets are almost always inferior to a good headset/headphone with virtual surround. Those true surround headsets pack in multiple drivers of lower quality, usually sacrificing sound for the gimmick of them being REAL surround. [...] a very good stereo headphone that uses virtual surround (like the Mixamp and AX720's Dolby Headphone), will trump real surround headsets in both audio quality and a surround sound-like effect as well!
