sooo mother got a kindle fire, but since we live in NZ, the amazon store is locked off to her.
this isnt a problem for books, as i can get her whatever she asks me for, but i would like to get her some free games for the thing (angry birds for instance, and whatever else there is on their store)
do i just need to create an account with an american address to get access to these, or do i have to do anything else? also, are there any risks? will the fbi come after me like they did that fat german dude?

I know a lot of people that just added a US address to their Amazon account and then changed their Kindle region to US. (You can do that in your Kindle options, quite easy to find). Then you have access to US books, but nothing else. But nothing stops you from just changing back. Content will still work after changing the region.
I did this myself for books, I don't see a reason why it would not work for apps, except maybe they have an additional region check. It's certainly not against Amazon's T&C's, as they will even automatically change your region when you are in another country for more than 3 months.

ill give it a try, thanks  it'd definately make her happy if i could get angry birds on the thing. she loves it on her mobile

apparently not? i think the kindle does something different, or the apks arent available or something... *shrugs* im a novice at all the stuff, but searching for free kindle fire games turned up nothing.

Kindle fire is based off of android. It removed android market functionality to push use of it's own android market.
