Since everyone have and Ios, android phone or Tablet with bright, shiny screens made from hardned glass or gorilla technology there should be no worry about scratches right? As ive noticed with all devices I had and my family, thats not the case and marketing is bullshit.

On first glance, my desire Z screen is perfect, but seen under heavy bulb light, or intense sun, I can see that its all covered with little dust like scratches. Same goes to 2 wildfires in my house and samsung wave.

Ive tried microfieber cloth dry- nothing. With lcd cleaning shit. Nothing.

The lil scratches are only visible under heavy light and are invisible in normal usage, but I was wondering anyway... is there a way to maybe fix this?

There is plenty of stupid "banana peel" methods or other bullshit, but are there any real measures to take care of that and protect it? I have that desire z for montha and I am suprised that there are already any signs of usage on it. and Its 2 years in my contract.

Its nothing bad or anything. If its not fixable then I won't care. I am that type of person, who takes care of his stuff but Like to use them as i want. Drop it in my pocket without any stupid screenshields or cases. After all, we are not in soviet russia and we are using the device and not the other way around Laughing

btw. Is anyone else annoyed as fuck when a friend with new phone have that stupid foil on the screen for whole time? All messed up and with air sockets underneath? Laughing They are protecting the screens so much that they don't think to actually use it but prefer to look through this unbearable layer of shit

With the newer phones the screenscratches are a thing of the past "Gorillaglass" is pretty strong and don't have to worry about scratches.

Tho i myself use a belt holder, just attach it to my belt and put phone in there all the time, simple and easy Razz

The Galaxy S Plus has Gorilla glass, putting screen protector on that, MASSIVELY drops the sensitivity and responsiveness, put your trust in this type of glass, you won't be dissapointed Smile

Google some vids about this type of glass, you will be amazed what it can withstand.

One observation right now.

If i will hold the screen (turned off) the way that it reflects my 22" lcd pc display, I can see rainbow colors on htc screen. Offcourse there is no way to see any scratches in front of my pc screen

Nobody claimed that gorillaglass is impossible to scratch, they all claim virtually impossible, like a 1 out of 99999999999 or so chance. Razz

another +1 for gorilla glass. I've dropped it glass first on cement multiple times and not so much as a hair scratch. Doesn't mean it's impenetrable but it's better than those crappy covers.

So far as I know it's the Galaxy's and Droids that use it.

You'd think the way Apple acts, they'd use something gorilla glass and then market it as the next best thing making iphones better than all because they invented it

Knowing Apple, they'll do exactly that with the iPhone 5. Since the general consumer doesn't know wtf gorilla glass is, the marketing will actually work.

Use Zagg's InvisibleShield. Glass is scratch free.
That GorillaGlass can be a twat too. My boss had it with his Dell Streak. He dropped it from the table and it went into spiderweb mode. Worked still good though.

WTF, small scratches on the bezel and you're contemplating fixing those scratches... on a PHONE? Laughing

You're too addicted and precious about your phones crocker. You should take a step back and realise it's not a piece of art or a veteran car, it's just a consumer device that will be absolutely worthless in a year or two when you've already bought a new one and perhaps another one as well. Well not to smack talk about your phone KillerCrocker, but Frant is right, and honestly, the Desire Z, is already pretty worthless compared to the newer phones.
Sure it might still be rather expensive, only because of the hardware keyboard, but the hardware inside the phone is useless junk already.

Well yes. I've got to agree with You. I am taking care of it, but I am not obsessive about it. I don't use case or screen protectors. What for? I am going to exchange it in year or two.
I just like to keep stuff in good shape as long as I own and use them.

And about sausje post.
I completly disagree!!! It doesn't differ almost at all from new smartphones. It's a medium-high range phone. It have 3,7" which smartphones this year also use. Don't get fooled by 800mhz tho, Its very fast and plays all games very smooth. (only gta3 works like 15fps). After all its 3rd from top on quadrant test. I absolutly see no reason to own faster smartphone. It plays 720p, record 720p, browsing is smooth even with 720p flash videos.(yes. it support flash) and does it all very well at 800x480 + physical keyboard.
What would we need for that power on a smartphone except for internet browsing, stupid games and media?
Actually I don't see where smartphones market is going. Nobody plays full on games on them. GtaIII? its just a tech demo which is unbearable to control. Everyone just plays cut the rope and angry birds games. train and bus games.

offcourse there is always a litlle bit of room for improvement with higher quality photos and videos recording, but this and all new devices does 720p easily.

So what? bigger screens? nope. 3d? fuck no.

Smartphoens now should have improved battery and durability. this is whats important. It would be ideal if galaxy s2 would last a month on battery and was sturdy like a rock

edit: Maybe I am easily nostagic, but It is AMAZING to hold that powerfull computer in my hand which can do everything I wouldn't imagined 10 years ago.
Now every person can easily listen to music, watch video, browse internet etc on the fly. WOW. You should have seen my grandfather eyes and his confusion when I was trying to explain him that it can hold and play 2000 songs or 10 movies Laughing people nowadays are way to blind to see the technology around.

edit2: offcourse there is no doubt that I will be amazed nexy year, another and another by upcoming devices. i am sure there will be another milestone and so on. its just hard to wrap around it Crying or Very sad

To sum it up nice and simple, Android 2.3.5 doesn't run smooth on a single core phone, that's a fact.
True it might feel smooth for you, but that is because you ain't used to better, your sense ui is NOT running at solid 60 fps, while on the newer ones it is Smile
512 mb ram, is a real bottleneck in this device (Roam around on xda forums and 95% of the owners of a desire z there agree with me), no gorilla glass (atleast most models) so more squishy.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it's a bad phone, just that we move this fast now that the hardware is already old and worthless compared to new ones, and if it's your first real smartphone then it's certainly not bad.

As for Quadrant score, happy that you scored 3rd from top?
Lemme shatter your dreams Razz

(tho i am running on a 1.5Ghz kernel with the 2d GPU OCed aswell.)
(and i could prolly push more with CM installed or Sense 3.5 disabled.)

Laughing HOLY SHIET !

2800?!
i have 1200 Laughing Now I feel bad for myself:P

but everything is smooth!Razz (maybe thats becouse I am coming from shitty slow wildfire)

I am running android 2.3.3 and i dont think I will root it.(or do You heavily advise to try?)

Can You recommend me a launcher? This Sense indeed can stutter from time to time, but its almost not happening.
