Im not really one for the Equestrian movies but Spielberg has got his name on this one and its getting good reviews.

Quote:
Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, War Horse begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets-British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter-before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man’s Land. The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse-an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure.

i don't think it needid a thread though
it's alright, but it's stil lacking imo

last good Spielberg movie i saw was Munich, and even there, the 2nd half wasn't too great.
Something felt out of place here, the editing wasn't right or the pace, it felt rushed even at 2h and 1/2 hours long.
And let's be serious, they'd shot the horse if i'd been stuck in no man's land, what's the point in risking your life you free some dumbass horse who ran into barbed wire.

When first heard about a WW1 movie made by Spielberg I got really excited. Then I found out it's about a horse...

There is a lack of WW1 movies... and he comes up with a horse. I'm not talking about brutal action themed ones.. WW1 has alot of stories which deserved to be told. Especially heartbreaking and beautiful ones.

Like this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424205/
(Wonderful movie!)

But Spielberg decided.. a friggin horse.. -.-

this is the definitive one

yeah well, ww1 didn't see much action, it wasn't really mechanized like WW2, people were spending most times in the trenches or in some ditch.
Another great WW1 movie is A Very Long Engagement, the war scenes are the best i've seen with WW1 so far.
