what happens is out of nowhere, everything slows down, i can't switch between tabs, when i press alt+tab and switch between programs its impossible to do so..just everything becomes unrensposnive at that time but winamp still plays fine haha and only way to fix it is to do a reset
it happened 2 times yesterday during whole day and today it happened twice already
could it be cpu?memory?sdd?
and I also have another weird issue, whether I plug in usb cable in front of my case, it looks like my video card shuts off because monitor goes to idle mode
and it never happened before until few days ago too
i just have a feeling, I will have major hardware failure soon

hard drive more than likely, if not memory issues.. ive had same stuff in past with wd raptor it was random, one min things were or seemed ok then suddenly slow ups hitching hangs and all sorts out the blue. then ok then bad again..
you will have to i guess do some fault finding here.

Sounds like a dying hard drive; are you on an SSD though (it says sdd in your post)? In that case I find that rather unlikely, unless you've been running without TRIM/unaligned.

well yea but I have to restart computer in order for to operate normally
@Werelds
Yea, its an SSD. Bought it less then a year ago..or maybe its been a year now
I have been running Windows 7 all the time so TRIM should be enabled or something?

got the same problem some time ago, after installing the new call of duty, it fucked my system entirely. the solution for me was a bios update to the motherboard (i haven't applied one since i bought it), and the problem was solved.
i say call of duty because it was some sort of "cause and effect"... weird. my system got unstable, lots of blue screens, random application crashes and random slowdowns. all of them was solved by with the bios update...

Very unlikely its your SSD unless your just very unlucky and it is, test your RAM or it could be your motherboard SATA ports not reading correctly.
dust.

I will run memtest over the night and see for any errors..
It's ADATA S599 120GB but I don't think there was ever firmware update for it, website still shows 1.0

it may be posible to have something system service or whatever (svchost or other) using 100% cpu.
start task manager, put it visible somewhere, sort by cpu, and wait for.
is winamp is still playing you have a chance for task man to refresh to see what process will consume 100% of cpu, in case if that is the problem.
check event viewer aswell for errors.
and i presume mp3 are on other hdd.
put some on your windows partition, and try to play them from there.
if they stuck, your hdd is the problem.

While winamp might be still playing but I can't do anything. I can't alt+tab between applications. I will try to ctrl+alt +del and select task manager when it happens
and where is event viewer located at? I have Polish language installed and I have no idea how it would be called is it located in control panel?
actually, for past week, I only have been listening to 6 songs which are located on the SDD
I don't think I have ever listented to songs located on other HDD for longer periods of time. For it to happen. Always listen to 300 songs located on the SDD

I just did 14 hours memtest86 with no errors
I did not experience what I posted above for 5 days now so not sure what causes it at this point :\
I did get once BSOD with 0x00000F4 but can't seem to narrow it down but it was one time deal so far.

Try running Linx.
That'll put a heavy load on your CPU and RAM. If either is the culprit, Linx will show it

Then your problems probably aren't caused by CPU or RAM. Run a benchmark on your SSD to make sure it's still running properly, but it might just as well be your SATA controller screwing up.

There's a lot that might've caused it, but as you said things are fine now. Updated any drivers (most specifically chipset) or installed any Windows updates?

to tell you the truth, this has been on-going issue for past year, since I got this motherboard actually
also those annoying 3seconds lockups when starting applications. I even hear something "clicks" from the case like it released something...
and just recently, sometimes my monitor goes black for 3-5 seconds and then everything returns to normal
last chipset drivers were released in 2010 but this has happened after every format+clean instal of windows
It will be hard find somewhat good MB with 775 that supports DDR3 at this point

Well, I got new mobo recently and I still hear clicking sound like HDD is locking up every so often when someone is about to start running..
I google around and it turns out my VelocityRaptor might be causing this. Luckily there is 5 years warranty on them. bought it in 2009 and its valid until 2014...
going to RMA it right now. I hope they send me one of the newest ones with sata3 but doubt it. oh well, I found the cause after all
I will also about to RMA my SSD, will explain same issue since warranty is about expire, might as well use it

That sounds like your GPU crashing and restarting. Check temps and clocks with GPU-Z (sensor tab).

I had a similar issue and it was caused by my almost-6 year old raptor HDD. It wasn't even a boot drive. Most of the time it worked fine but sometimes Windows would just semi-freeze like you describe. It took me a while to track down the issue and nothing pointed to the drive, but after I removed it, everything is fine since.

it's fine, I have replaced cpu+ram+mobo+video about 3 weeks and everything is fine right now
@BearishSun:
Yea, I have removed the VelocityRaptor yesterday and the issue of clicking seems to be gone. I already drop it off at UPS.
I have 2x250gb seagata drivers from 6 yrs ago that I should probably replace and just buy 2xTB or just 2TB drive. I think they are going to start dying pretty soon!
