Just got back from a Japanese steakhouse that makes the food for you..was freaking delicious, I love it there.
Had Eel, Yellowtail, Squid, and Octopus Sushi..was all pretty good, was most fond of the octopus, yellowtail was probably my least favorite.

pussies... i use to HATE sushi and the whole idea of it all... it all sounded disgusting... then u try it... and ... addiction! u guys should atleast have it once
what i do with my friends who are too scared of going to a sushi buffet in fear of not having anything to eat if they hate it is to take em to a hybrid buffet... some sushi buffets have tons of tiny appetizers and others have full blown chinese dishes too... good compromise.

Easier said than done - the only way I could get sushi here is if I got some of that freezed crap from the supermarket, and I'd wager that's not exactly a fair sample of what sushi can be like. |
You can always find a nice not freezed Finnish pond and do like Bear Grylls

I've had "entombed salmon" which is quite nice
Quote: | During the Middle Ages, gravlax was made by fishermen, who salted the salmon and lightly fermented it by burying it in the sand above the high-tide line. The word gravlax comes from the Scandinavian word grav, which literally means "grave" or "to dig", and lax, which means "salmon", thus gravlax means "buried salmon".
Today fermentation is no longer used in the production process. Instead the salmon is "buried" in a dry marinade of salt, sugar, and dill, and cured for a few days. As the salmon cures, by the action of osmosis, the moisture turns the dry cure into a highly concentrated brine, which can be used in Scandinavian cooking as part of a sauce. This same method of curing can be used for any fatty fish, but salmon is the most common. |
That's as close as I've come to eating raw fish though. There's some Asian sushi place nearby but I've never felt the urge to go in there.

A friend of mine that basically lives half his life in Japan came over to visit and got me to eat some "professionally prepared" sushi at East-West sushi in Sweden. I have to say it was an unforgettable meal in the way that the only thing I enjoyed was the company. I ate eight of those rolled fuckers out of politeness and then felt like throwing up. (the wasabi made it at least taste something)
Consistency of old porridge with a piece of snot on top of it is pretty much my experience. I'd eat it to survive, but that's about it.

The last time I ever ate sushi was Spring 2010 when I was trying to woo my GF and getting her freinds' approval or whatever. After we started going out, I never came close to eating that shit again
