Back in the late 90'ies and early 2000's I frequented a lot of ftp sites, it was pretty much the sole way of getting/couriering stuff for me back then (well, aside from IRC). I used to be a site tech/courier for some group and thought that was hot shit. Since then I'm completely lazy and pretty much only use Usenet. So my question is: Are there ftp sites still out there? Is the protocol even used anymore since all the raids in 2003-2006?

There are still some sites. I used to have access to several really good ones but many of them are gone. Now I just have 2.

Ya, I remember the FTP's as well. Being the founder and leader of a horror movie rip group as well as having friends in some good places gave me access to some really nice 0-day ftp's. Haven't done the ftp thing in years though, they just seemed to disappear together with napster etc., and usenet became an alternative (before usenet was flooded with junk, fakes and crap).

All the sites I used to use are gone. It was only FTP and IRC back in the good old days. Now it's only torrents.
Torrents are faster tho, since i always max out my speed on that. couldnt do that on ftp or irc.
I hate you.

As for hacked ftps i still use them occasionally...Fxp scene was the best we had to work for our goods back then.
