Hm, I wonder if this is permament or if you have to start a new world.

Just started playing this, it gives me flashbacks of playing Pitfall 2 on the C64 haha. Do you meet any NPC's in this game (except that guide?) are there any quests? It's a bit hard to get a grip on what this game really is, this early on.. I saw some epic boss fight on youtube, looked really fun.
Gotta love the indie scene, PC gaming is far from dying..

There's lots of npc's - each has a specific condition to fulfill before they can spawn (and you'll have to provide housing for them, too). http://wiki.terrariaonline.com/Npc

mechanic is in the dungeon, which can be found on either the left or right edge of the map and is guarded by a tough boss. unless you already have demonite equipment from the earlier bosses, don't bother.
goblin merchant can be found randomly underground after beating a goblin invasion which may randomly happen. I think more players on the server increases the chances and you probably need to reach a certain point in the game to enable them but I'm not sure about that.

People fucking suck.
How about you just say fucking "thank you" and be on your way? It's not like the game is dead and somehow, magically, can't be enjoyed or played any longer and it sure as hell isn't broken and needing 24/7 patching and maintenance in order to play.

I usually don't pay to much attention to whining idiots on forum but some of those comments really pissed me off. Hours and hours of enjoyment and one year worth of free updates and fixex for 10 bucks and people feel they got cheated.
It's a fucking disgrace.
