Just lost Lydia in Blackreach after asking her to wait, had to loop all the way back to the beginning from outside in skyrim to find her heh Laughing

i have done that a few times too. i was reading on one of the wikis about it and apparently, if you leave them somewhere for too long you will get a msg saying that they got bored and went home (to where you met them or to your house).

Heh, for some reason the thought of a companion just "getting bored" while waiting in a dark catacomb filled with monsters is really funny to me.

Like they just yawned and went, "fuck it. I'm going home" then just casually walked out of there like a boss.

Just as comical as me trying to find a way down a mountain to get to a destination and my companion wants to find his own way. So I dragon shout his ass right off the side of the mountain and watch his body flop to the bottom as I make my way down to join him Smile

My biggest grip with this game is the variety of enemies. I'm about 70% done and getting bored killing undeads , spiders ect and even dragons who are more of the same.. A game of this scale should have many more type of monsters to keep things interesting. Dungeons with unique monsters ect

That said i still like the game but don't think i will replay it with another class.

Trolls are pretty easy. Just hit 'em with fire. Very Happy Giants are hardcore. Too hardcore, if you ask me. You basically need to be over level 20 to take them on. On higher levels they become easy just like everything else.

Bears and wolves too. I was expecting to see cooler monsters in the forest. I've only seen Spriggans very few times. And although they get one shotted at least they're more interesting than a bear.

The longer I play it, the more my enthusiasm is fading. Yesterday I encountered a mainquest-stopping bug with an important story-character having no "spoken text" (there is a workaround on the net), even on highest difficulty its too easy (lev. 52 now), there are not enough different items and enemies.
I am going to continue playing, of course, to finish the mainquest and do all the things I did in Morrowind/Oblivion: buying all houses, finding all unique items, becoming the master of all factions, becoming "Thane" in the cities ... but nevertheless there is a slight feeling of disappointment now...

by the way: is it worth joining one of the civil war factions? I considered going to the Legion now to make things a bit "different".... Embarassed

I also find it harder to kill Snow trolls than dragons. Dragons are way too easy. They were (predictably) full of shit in all those prerelease interviews. I haven't had a dragon even come close to a town either, nor have I seen one ever grab something and fly off with it.

I had a dragon attack a town last night. A smaller town, but it landed on buildings, took a guard in his mouth.
The town was in the west..uhm..ragor something or other.

I had a dragon epic fight in Winterhold during heavy snow.Dragon was landing on buildings, all guards of the town participate in this,2 mages from the college too.
Not yet bored of the game and it's unusual of me.Epic quests keep appearing, I've yet to discover the "social" aspects of the game (house etc), no companion fights yet, I have a feeling that this game will last me a year for sure.

Nah, dragons are harder to hit with my bow.

With frost trolls, I don't even need to use the sneak attack bonus, 4-5 arrows are usually enough. They've really improved archery to the point where it's no longer needed to combine it with alchemy to get decent results against enemies.

Hell, if I could I'd probably remove all my perks from alchemy and move them to enchanting/block/destruction.

Prolly JB is using some mod, the max zoom allowed is like yours and mine. Fast travels takes all the fun, but still through really large distances, like Solitude -> Riften comes in handy Laughing

weird
I've been playing for about 65 hours now and I've had 4 or 5 random dragon attacks on various towns.

I've also met dragons fighting frost trolls, mammoths,giants and bandits while I was just passing by.

I use these in Skyrim.ini

[MapMenu]
bWorldMapNoSkyDepthBlur=0
iRightStickRepeatRate=250
fWorldMapNearDepthBlurScale=4.0000
fWorldMapDepthBlurScale=0.3000
fWorldMapMaximumDepthBlur=0.4500
fWorldMapFocalDepth=45000.0000
fMapMenuOverlaySnowScale=1.0000
fMapMenuOverlayScale=1.0000
fMapMenuOverlayNormalSnowStrength=0.4000
fMapMenuOverlayNormalStrength=1.1000
sWorldMapOverlayNormalSnowTexture=Data\Textures\Terrain\WorldMapOverlaySnow_n.dds
sWorldMapOverlayNormalTexture=Data\Textures\Terrain\WorldMapOverlay_n.dds
fMapWorldTransitionHeight=10000.0000
sMapCloudNIF=Meshes\Sky\SkyrimWorldMapCloudBank.nif
sMapWorldDefaultWorldSpace=Tamriel
fMapLoopFadeTimeSeconds=1.0000
fMapLocalCursorPanSpeed=2000.0000
fMapWorldCursorMoveArea=0.9000
fGamepadCursorSensitivity=2.0000
fMaxMarkerSelectionDist=0.0030
fMapMenuNearClipPlane=128.0000
fMapMoveKeyboardSpeed=0.0200
fMapZoomMouseSpeed=1.0000
fMapLookGamepadSpeed=1.5000
fMapLookMouseSpeed=3.0000
fMapWorldHeightAdjustmentForce=4.0000
fMapWorldYawRange=80.0000
fMapWorldMaxPitch=75.0000
fMapWorldMinPitch=15.0000
fMapWorldInitialPitch=50.0000
fMapWorldMaxHeight=200000.0000
fMapWorldMinHeight=1000.0000
fMapWorldZoomSpeed=1.0000
fMapWorldMaxPanSpeed=75000.0000
fMapWorldMinPanSpeed=60000.0000
fMapTransitionSpeed=0.7500
fMapLocalMinFrustumWidth=4000.0000
fMapLocalMarkerSelectionDist=0.0300
fMapLocalMousePanSpeed=20.0000
fMapLocalGamepadPanSpeed=100.0000
fMapLocalMouseZoomSpeed=0.1000
fMapLocalGamepadZoomSpeed=0.0300
uLockedObjectMapLOD=4
uLockedTerrainLOD=8
fMapLocalHeight=40000.0000

Those two LOD values default at 32 and 64, buildings can be lower (higher detail.) than terrain but I've never managed to get terrain better than 8, setting it to 4 (power of two 2 so it's 4, 8, 16, 32 and so on.) increases loading times to several minutes and most of the map is not visible at all when it finally finishes loading the save.

fMapWorldMaxHeight=200000.0000
fMapWorldMinHeight=1000.0000

Those allow max zoom and min zoom heights, these are about the highest I can set without fading the entire map out of view or clipping (Still happens with mountains.) when zooming through objects and buildings at the ground.

I didn't alter it but bWorldMapNoSkyDepthBlur=0 can be set to remove a bit of the depth of field effect the map has.

Also the command SetFog 1 1000000 is what I'm using to scale the fog back, haven't found a good combination yet but this is OK for now.

Oh and the zoom and mouse zoom speed were lowered from 2 to 1 for a bit better control when using the map, tilt and such were left alone.
(MB2 and dragging the map mouse cursor around.)

EDIT: sMapCloudNIF= without anything after it removes clouds from the map.

I've had a few dragon attacks on towns too, not the big cities though, if you piss about too much some named npcs will get killed (probably not major ones)
Some woman in Darkstar is dead outside her house, an attack on an Orc settlement killed Ghorbash the Iron Hand, who is a companion and a marriage prospect for some, plus the usual guards, farmers and the like

I did once get attacked at the College of Mages too

My version doesn't show total time played Sad

Seeing dragons attack towns is probably the best part of dragons. Landing on buildings, grabbing people, guards attacking the dragon, it's a sight to behold. While in my game I do not seem to encounter dragons as often as other people claim, I do agree the random dragons should've been left out. They should've focused only on the named dragons and should've made them unique with distinct personalities.
