"half a second"? Massive exaggeration won't help your case, you know. |
100ms then? Whatever it is, it should be instant. I am not saying the potion should start healing instantly, am saying that the game should know what I am telling it to do. So if I doubletap the potion and then rightclick somewhere on the ground, it should do those commands in succesion, not simply ignore the doubletap.
It would be perfectly understandable if it was a spell, but since when do potions have casting time. |
I just tested this in a practice match. No matter how much I tried, out of 10 tries, every time I failed to move without using the potion by double clicking on it.
So to sum up: It's not the game's fault you have a terrible connection.

It has like 100ms delay, it is honestly not that big a deal. SC2 has 200ms and no one really complains too loudly about that. Maybe they will start when Blizzard dota comes out. Maybe they will improve it but honestly it's something anyone can get used to if they take the time to.
Everyone complained about HoN's camera in beta, and the colors, and how they can't see anything when people ult, and wah wah wah. But they got used to it. if the delay was huge and completely insurmountable I'd understand, but it is one tenth of a second. I understand if it feels jarring when you aren't used to it, the same way people felt when hon was new, but I don't believe it's as huge a deal as people make it out to be.

Why is the picture paused for 50 miliseconds? Not even the fire is moving.
Even if there is a 100ms delay, that is hardly something that will ruin someone's game.

I didn't make it I just found them on the dota2 dev forum. It's a recording at ??? fps compressed into a gif at ??? fps so it can't be super accurate
here's dota for comparison http://666kb.com/i/byzyyt2cnmz9w1ilo.gif
Hon has noticeably less delay than Dota 2, which has noticeably less delay than SC2, which has 200ms. I don't know how sensitive people would be to intervals smaller than 100ms so I'd just assume 100ms. I like both games
Did you know our consciousness has a 80ms delay from our brain processing reality? Life is unplayable

got an invite
but moba really aren't my kind of games
i'd like to try to learn but even if i was really into moba, i feel like i need to read tons of docs to finally get started while i think you should be able to understand game mechanics just by playing (possibly without being insulted would be nice)
the game watch feature is nice, though, exactly what needs esport, audio stream with perfect graphics, will probably use that a lot (where should i go to know about dota2 competitive scene? i watch a lot of sc2 via teamliquid, but any advice for dota is welcome)
anyway, i have two invites, my friends play Lol and hate dota2 (moba players really looks like hateful people, toward new players, others moba games, and i even have a friend that yell at me for using twitch because owned is so much better !!11oneone (probably because his lol stream are using owned))n that's sad :/
i'm willing to offer those 2 invites to NFOrce forumers
some criteria
-regular on the hump (if you just registered, you probably won't have it)
-not one of the sick xenophobic i sometimes see in the world news section is a plus
-i know you/you're in BF3 platoon
-you have anything i could be interested in (don't really know, i don't feel like there's a game or a beta that i want access to that i don't)

I think I finally found out what bothers me about Dota 2. It feels... sluggish. Slow. In its character movement, the animations etc.
Hm. Gonna give it another try with that in mind.
