Might be a corrupt savegame. Try loading an earlier one and go to Riften. |
no dice, must be corrupt game files. older saves all act the same.

Well the patch is going to be released tomorrow it seems, and I really have no desire to update my game.
Stupid steam however, thought otherwise until I used this to disable all updates:

So far so good.

Blackreach is tied to a bunch of quests (also Main Quest) and is connected to Mzinchaleft and Alftand. As far as I know, there are Dark Brotherhood quests, Quests from Falkreath, Riften and some more are all involved in this gigantic dungeon system. It's quite stunning actually.

I've read somewhere that 1 corrupt save will prevent all the others from loading too since it's still somewhat loaded when you start the game. Dunno if it's true since I don't have this issue and can't test it out.

Great game!
For the LOVE of god, how do I enable Skyrim to use my RAM?
I've got 8 gigs, edited the ini file, even downloaded a program to "patch" the exe to allow for more than 2 gigs to be used......however, when I alt-tab, i've never seen the exe using more than 700megs.....
What gives?

because I've heard it helps performance.
with the ambient occlusion option from the new Nvidia drivers, i've noticed about a 5-8fps drop, and would like to make it up.

lol you can disable updates for any game from its properties, from your steam client. You can even start steam in offline mode with a little ini option.

It handles RAM a bit differently than that (Caches it or some such, similar to the other titles.) so just because it reads 700 - 900 in the task manager (Mine reads 1.6 - 1.8 usually though.) it can have cached a whole lot more which is why the 4GB app helps out a lot (Was recently updated to build #4) I think there was a post about it on the official forums.

Errghhh, I'm getting tired of Uthgerd, why won't the cow die already ?
(Since I'm kinda roleplaying, I don't want to have her killed, I really want her to die valiantly in battle)

Is anyone else here playing with a companion by their side? I have Golldir following me, and I've been giving him my old armor when I upgrade/switch mine, last night I gave him my previous armor (full Legendary Ebony armor, all pieces enchanted ) with an enchanted Legendary Ebony shield. Haven't gotten around to upgrade his weapon yet, but he does anough damage with his Legendary Orcish mace, combine that with +30% one-handed damage enchantments etc. and he's pretty damn good.
I just now read this though:

A follower's stats are determined based on the level the player is at when he or she first enters the zone that the follower is in. Once generated, the follower's stats do not increase at all. For example, Lydia is usually one of the first followers players will have access to, and most players receive her at a lower level. As such, most players' Lydias will have low stats for the entire game.
If you have an attachment to a certain follower and wish to continue to use him or her after he or she has become obsolete, you can update his or her stats by dismissing the companion, then opening the console, clicking the follower in question, typing "disable" and then typing "enable" without the quotation marks, then ask them to rejoin. The follower's inventory will remain unaffected, but his or her stats will all be updated to match the player's current level.
|
Wow I met/recruited Golldir when I wasn't even level 10... now I'm really curious to see what he can do with the upgraded stats
Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc

There's some quest about a cult near Windhelm where you could sacrifice her.

How do you get your NPC:s to wear specific items? I give the dude some armor and a sword and he just refuses to equip them. I also give them healing potions but they refuse to drink them. Also, they tend to completely charge and die in a fire vs. difficult opponents (such as draugr deathlords, ancient vampires/dragons). Only companion that doesn't die as soon as something looks at them is the dark brotherhood sceptre.

They should use the items they are given by default. keep in mind though that some companions don't wear all armors you give them. Lydia for example loves her boots or something, never changes them.
I think all companions have a deathwish, all of them charge in. How Bethesda did companions is hit tbh. You can't give them any orders besides "stop" and "move yo ass".

I could disable the updates from the properties tab, if steam didn't turn them back on each time that I logged in...
EDIT: ... and this shit isn't working either.

You can't, "no armor" is their default, as it doesn't show up in their inventory.
@fisk - like Mister_s said, I just give them the armor/weapons I want them the use and automatically equips them. Works with everything on Golldir (the only one I've used as a follower), this includes all armor pieces, a shield, a one handed weapon and a bow, even arrows.

In my experience their armor doesn't show up in the inventory, only the weapon they're using.

Is Core i5 2400 and slightly overclocked GTX 550 Ti enough for somehow smooth running the game in 1440x900 with PhysX set to normal?
