Gonna check tower heist tonight (Ben stiller fanboy <3) Allready -1 for Eddy Murphy tho |
The only possible reason for not liking eddie is that you are a racist. So you better be a racist then or I'll be very angry. |
Eddie Murphy hasn't made anything remotely worthwhile in over 10 years. On top of that he has made some of the worst movies to come out ever in that span.

The Thing (2011) - a worthy remake of the original movie. Actually one of the best remakes of old classics in recent years. 7.5/10

The Thing - 6/10
Fun enough, albeit obviously not a patch on the Carpenter film. Some nice references to the 1982 film (the axe in the wall, the end credits, etc), Mary Elizabeth Winstead doing her best Ripley impersonation and better use of CG effects than I was expecting - eg, the helicopter scene, raised it above my expectations.
It's still very formulaic though, full of cliches and predictable twists, and Adebisi didn't have enough to do.

Cowboys and Aliens 7/10 - It was pretty good. Looks real pretty, although a lot of it is far fetched even for a sci-fi movie. There are some really good moments, and a couple of bad ones. Plus its just too slow at certain times.
Spoiler: |
Also notice how Daniel Craig takes a good look before covering her up

The Thing - 6/10 - Liked how the director actually let Norwegians speak norwegian though Ulrich Thomsen kind a just went with Danish "the americans wont tell the difference anyways " Anywho the film itself is too much of a slave to the Carpenter Remake Spoiler: | I mean the silent but muted dog keeper, the american chopper pilot, the way too convenient rescue chopper at the end etc. I want a prequel which actually tries something new seeing as the thing really is an interesting alien. Also the spaceship part near the end could have had alot more substance |

you should rewatch the original if you couldnt remember it that well... the number of references to the original was pretty clear it was the prequel set at the norwegian outpost... i think if you rewatched carpenters film youd find the number of references kinda rewarding, because in my opinion its the one thing this film did really well... both trying a BIT of an original story, while keeping the story consistent with carpenters "sequel"
and when i say original... i mean how much can you do with essentially the same setup as the other film, based on the same creature? the only thing that was superior in carpenters film, was the pacing - it was infinately creepier and atmospheric.
and i guess the characters too, atleast they were more memorable than the characters in the prequel - or perhaps its because of the actors? kurt russell and keith david for the motherfuckin win

It's one of these good movies where the trailer ruins it all and is crappy. Watch it. I'm sure you'll find the movie decent at the least.

"The Bounty"
1984 film with a decent cast. (Gibson before he went full retard, Hopkins, Liam , more then I can mention)
Has one of my favorite scores as well. Probably Vangelis's best work along side Blade Runner. In fact, it sounds as if some potential music that was to be used in Blade Runner was instead put in Bounty as he was working on both films at the same time.
Great story obviously. It's the story of the HMS Bounty.
My only complaint is that they still haven't released a HD version of this film. I know not why. It diserves such. So the DVD version is starting to look like shit after watching nothing but HD releases for a while.
9/10. One of my favorites.

Be sure to see this is soon as possible, this is such a great thriller! (look for subs, its norwegian).
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.
