And the animations and characters looked ugly / stiff to me. The water looked good though =D |
What did you think about vanilla Oblivion?
And the Shivering Isles? For me that one was hilarious. |
i loved oblivion, no matter what its shortcomings were (didnt play it as vanilla though, but the mods DLCs i used didnt do much to change it from vanilla, just added more content). Shivering Isles was weird and i never finished it.

Modding or not, it should look at least like that on a decent PC these days.

You honestly think that looks better than Skyrim? .. Then more a matter of taste, not graphics.

I haven't played long enough to form a comparison yet, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my love of Oblivion. Buggy and had serious technical shortcomings (not to mention god awful optimisation that was never really fixed, just brute-force passed with more powerful hardware) --- but damn if I haven't put well over a hundred hours into it.

Yeah, well, that will teach me not to be too lazy to type out lengthy rants about the state of the PC gaming industry. |
Naw, don't get me wrong .. I know EXACTLY how you feel and I agree with you 100%. I just thought I'd have a mess around seeing as how Morrowind (stock, not modded) was hardly the best choice of comparison for comparing Bethesda of old to today.
No hard feelings? <3

The same way you add items; Favourite them, highlight in the Q-uick menu and then press a hotkey.

The water on ultra in skyrim doesnt look close like this, sorry. Not talking about vegitation etc. Animation/Ripples etc not to mention.

No hard feelings over the internet, far too old to get riled over forum posts.
And I do maintain that Morrowind looked great when it came out, compared to other games that were released at the same time, as opposed to how Skyrim looks compared to other games of 2011.
Now I will freely admit that the water might have greatly influences this opinion of mine, but there's no way I'll understand how somebody who played Morrowind back when it was released could call it ugly.

I really can't put my finger on it, but rendering doesn't feel fluid in this game either. It's not Vsync, that's disabled, I have constant 60+ fps as well. It's just gamebryo being itself, probably.

@Leo: there's no competition for me, I absolutely adore the new environments, less "fairylike" and more realistic overall

Well, performance seems to improve outside of that initial area.
