I thought so too, about the interiors at the beginning of the game, but man after you step outside once again and the real game begins, it's simply amazing.

Don't forget to enable foliage shadows + terrain shadows and full water reflections though.
I'm far past that and it still looks butt ugly Laughing Still waiting for someone to give me a headsup about max graphics ini file Smile

From a recent discussion that should be a better and more complete list of all updated files compared to the files acquired from unpacking the SIM/SID containers. Smile
(Preload files and decrypted copies are already up to date of course.)

EDIT: Updated, missed a ini file.

Basically both Razor releases (The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim-Razor1911 and The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim_Update_1-RazorDOX) are missing several updated game files (including two big .bsa files). So if you want to play fully patched up-to-date game grab the update above from JB.

Hmm, nice, it's always good to wake up to a release - I'll give the game a shot, since you're all praising it Very Happy

Any .ini settings that I should be aware of? (anyone compile an ultra settings .ini yet?)

[Controls]
fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.400
fGamepadHeadingSensitivity=0.400

that's the value that need to be tweaked for over sensitivity, with it s too slow for x and ok for y axis, just try to firegure what's the best

I think fmouse is X and Fgamepad is Y , yeah it s really strange but it doest affect something anyway dunno what exactly

Yes, you're being too impatient Finish the character creation first, the name change is offered at the end once you'd done.

As was stated before the UI is the most obvious console port imaginable. Though once you get used to it it's sort of ok.
One thing that bugs me is... how the game looks.
I might just be tired and completely batshit crazy but to me this looks just like Oblivion with a bit more polish.
And it actually sounds as if they, again, hired about 10-15 voice actors to do all the voices...

The game actually runs much better for me under Windows XP. Surprised
Same settings as W7 x64 and with shadows set to medium instead of low I get an increase of 5-10fps.
Which do matter when we're talking about 30-35fps in some places.

I remember something similar to this happening with FO: NV, could it be the same issue?

You might be losing some visual quality in XP and that might also be why it performs better there. The game uses DX11 and things like fog will show lines where it intersects with objects in DX9. I'm not positive it's doing this feature but I sure don't see those ugly lines in W7 with my 5870. I do remember Bethsoft saying the game does use DX11 (but it's not a full DX11 game).

I renamed the executable to oblivion.exe and it runs fantastically here. Ran a little worse but not too bad as skyrim.exe.

The graphics are amazing. The UI takes getting used too, but it's not exactly crap in my opinion. This is a must buy/play for RPG fans.

Soon you will see what I was talking about regarding the interface and it being in need of keyboard shortcuts.
Basically there are none, just the same functions as you have on a controller.
They're not aware that pc users have a keyboard and so buttons 1 through 0 for example are unused.

They said they used about 75 voice actors. We are only scratching the surface of the game since it came out today.

To me the game looks far, far better than oblivion. Night & day difference. Also it just feels much less clunky than Oblivion. Playing in 3rd person helps.

The graphics look like crap, but even though the UI is pretty bad, I think it's more practical than the one from Oblivion (which was a total failure as well). They should've hired some UI modders from Oblivion to do the UI as it's clear that they suck completely at it Laughing

Same time, I am having great time with this ui in console...

And I am having rather poor performance here.. I guess I will stick to 360 version

Agreed. Graphics are amazing, especially for an open-world RPG. Areius did you adjust the sliders or settings at all? I bumped the settings up and at 1920x1200 with 4xAA it looks fantastic.

I have to admit, this interface of Skyrim is a pain in the ass... even worse than Oblivion.
Is there really no way to assign items, spells and weapons to the 1,2,3,... (or other) keys instead of using this fu..ed quick inventory...?

thx

Copy/rename skyrim.exe to oblivion.exe and see what that does for performance. (launch it directly)

Heh, so it's broken again it seems, also a interesting fortress with some varied items, that orcish mace will serve quite well for some time.

Nope, game doesn't use DX11 at all at the moment.
They might release a DX11 update in the future like crysis 2, but that's still up in the air.

Highlight a spell/item/weapon in the menu and press F. This adds to the Favourites menu (default Q) -- in game press Q and then highlight the item and finally press the number to bind it to a hotkey.

Whoever made this UI needs to die. Today.
