After playing for 2.5 hours, I can say this one is buyworthy. The immersiveness is already quite apparent, it pisses all over Oblivion at this stage. I don't know WTF people are talking about when they're complaining about gfx, but it looks great here. Everything on ultra, shadows medium. It looks much better than Oblivion imo, there's much much more attention to small detail. The sterility in Oblivion's design is nowehere to be seen, it looks like they hired a whole new design team which actually knows WTF it's doing this time. Only the shadows suck, I don't know what happened there.
VA is quite good, I like the accents. For some reason this is how I always imagined the Nordic people. Weather effects are nicely done and it's a joy looking at a river from a distance, water flow is very good. This is also the first Elder Scrolls game I'll play in third person, thank god the bastards finally added some proper animations.
The few books I've read are very well written, nothing ground breaking though. Story I can't comment about, but it seems much deeper than Oblivion's "devils incoming must close all portals oh chosen one!!!" bullshit. Crafting seems also quite deep and interesting.
The few bad things in the short time I played are the shadows (seriously WTF?) and the UI. UI could've been better (i.e. actually designed for the PC) but I think it works well enough when you only use keyboard. I have no problems with it.
I'm very impressed. A man gotta sleep though 
What does "decal quantity" do?

Guys, im having a problem customizing my character.. in the middle of the process i just loose control over it. The keyboard and the mouse dont seem to work anymore , I can exit to the main menu etc but cant customize shite
is there a fix for this?

can someone let me know how to change the resolution settings as the highest i get in the options is 1680 x 1050?

Game runs like shit on those ultra settings posted by sabin, mostly due to CPU limitations me thinks What can I do to reduce the CPU load or display the CPU and GPU load in game?

Ehm I killed a chicken in the first town and decided to kill everyone. Are there gonna be problems if I play like this? I couldn't kill the trader tho he just kneels and becomes immortal.

You can use MSI afterburner to display gpu usage ingame. If it's at 99% then there's no cpu bottleneck.

The game actually runs much better for me under Windows XP. 
Same settings as W7 x64 and with shadows set to medium instead of low I get an increase of 5-10fps.
Which do matter when we're talking about 30-35fps in some places.
I remember something similar to this happening with FO: NV, could it be the same issue?

Absolutetly love this game so far, and I hated Morrowind and Oblivion with a passion.
Can't really say for sure whats different, but I feel much more immersed in the game compared to the previous ones.
Morrowind and Oblivion just felt sort of ... dead, compared to this.

It's starting to get me crazy when I read that controll on gamepad are perfect, am I the only one for whose X+Y sensitivity are different? X is ok and Y is over sensitive.

The print screen key should be putting the snap shot in the Skyrim install directory
