Dexters Dad = Good Killings
Dexters Brother = Turn Dexter to murder
Dexter just murdered someone. His brother returned.
Happened after his wife died, dexters brother showed up, and dexter was hungry for blood (if i recall correctly. My memory is wonky) And dexter committed murder, in cold blood all evil like and all that.
So yeah, it's in his head.

Now it seems that they are steering towards him giving it up in some way to save Debra's career maybe? |

I liked the episode too. Definitely not the best episode so far but it was damn good. Theres never a disappointing episode in Dexter

Exactly that. It was a good episode because the brother was pretty awesome to be honest but it doesn't mean it wasn't a filler. It was a cool nod back to what is probably the best season of Dexter but it didn't seem like it belonged here at all. Could've easily been included last season.

The brother wasn't a nod to the best season of dexter it was a nod to show that dexter has a dark side. Darker than normal. I thought it would foreshadow to the future of dexter when maybe he becomes a murderer, but defeating his brother was easy. Too easy. Mos Def showed him it was possible. Which is cool and all, but the episode felt out of place, more like a dream. It was nice seeing dexter let loose, and evolve and take better control of himself, but they should've done it in more than just one episode.

The whole season feels like a 'filler' (Just like season 3 & 4). There is little evolution in the main story. It's not bad but still... Hope they will work to a big ending now they know they have to make 2 more. Last season it felt like his sister and Quinn knew that he had something to do with killing those assholes... Too bad they forgot about it now -_-
