My old xbox360 gamepad is dying, the cable is deteriorating. Once I lost and regained connectivity so many times in a row that I got a BSOD Very Happy
So im gonna get a new one, wireless ofcourse.
Now what exactly do I need for this to work?
I'd like to get the limited editon pad (with the new d-pad). It comes with a play&charge kit.
Does this even work on PC? Do I need this seperate wireless adapter?
There is also the standard wireless pad "for PC" in black but it seems to come without a play&charge kit.
Its almost as expensive as the limited edition. I dunno this is very confusing.
If I'm gonna need the adapter this is going to cost me more than 60€!
Didn't expect it to be that expensive.

You need the separate wireless adaptor, yes.

Once you have that, you can use any official wireless 360 controller that you want.

Oooooh, my apologies.. I hadn't noticed the Special Edition comes with the PnC kit. Supposedly that works fine on Windows V/7 now, though it didn't used to.

I read the wireless ones have a habit of killing USB ports.
Not sure if there is truth in this but you should look into it.

Nope , working great here..using that adapter in Sabin's post. Ofc I have play n charge kit , and no worries ( you can charge it from your PC too ) ..buy it..it's a bit expensive but it's worth it imo.

EDIT: that adapter on amazon is a bit expensive too , here is only 15 euros.

Funny you bring this up, that reciever just died on me this week.
Its been in use for 3 years now, nothing has happend with it. Just plugged it in and left it on the same spot.
Tho for no reason at all it died on me...

This is common issue with receivers.One of elements is a weak and broke easyly.Here is tutorials how to fix it easy

just connect this f1 element.

About new silver pad- @Shocktrooper get it,instead of old black one.It comes with play and charge kit and price is same like previous one witthout kit!Dpad is great.And work with no problem with receiver,just buy it separetely from somewhere.

Yea but windows doesnt even *beep* anymore if i plug it in, no detection at all from the device.

Just one more question: If I get the Special Edition with Play and Charge Kit but without wireless adapter, does that mean I can play with a cable for now and get the adapter later?

No you cant.Play and charge kit is only to recharge batteries.No signal coming through it.Pad only works with wireless signal ,no way to play it with cable.

Those new revision controllers look so good. I really admire their design.

Especially the black one. Would love to get it but I'm not sure whether it has that new fancy D-Pad or not. The name says it's just the New Black. Scratch Head So probably not... Sad

I think there isnt whole pack if by whole pack you mean pad+kit+receiver.Only pack that i was saw is pad and kit.

Just FYI, dealextreme has those wireless adapters for less than 10 USD - they're a bit slow sometimes (ok almost always Laughing), but the shipping is free worldwide so can't really complain there.

I agree. I wish I had wired ones.

Constantly buying/charging batteries, and an extra receiver for PC, it's just not worth it. I'd rather put up with some wires.

Not if you have it like me, because i play on my tv when using controller.
Wich is in the livingroom, kinda hard to have a controller with a minimal of 15-20 meter cable Razz

FYI,
I ordered and received the standard black wireless pad for windows now, not the limited edition.
The wireless adapter is included in this package, I didnt know that before.
I also still have 4 rechargeable batteries from my Gameboy Advance times so I can do without the play n charge kit.
Now I paid only 32€, instead of 59€, I can live with the crappy old d-pad.
