Been playing WoW since the start, really hate this idea. They could've simply expanded to raiding different elemental planes or invading the netherworlds instead of going with pandas.
Oh well, what's done is done. At least I'll get a free d3 copy for long-term subscription.
After quick look into what has been posted about the expansion so far i can say i changed my mind about it. It does look interesting and all those changes look nice
Only problem for me is i got bored of game after playing it for 5 years, so i dont think i can get back to actively playing it again. But guess i will lvl one of my characters to 90....
I actually think they are trolling and before it ends they'll reveal the real expansion (or not).
I can't say i blame them. They're gonna make millions on the asian market.
I don't really care tbh, i stopped playing ages ago and i'm not going back.
if there wasnt blu-ray of kung fu panda in last month, noone would even think of that.. just saying and we all know i am right.. i proably wont come back to wow, and while ill agree its bit silly, i do think that pokemons are fun, i dont give a shit if they stole another 500 things from classic games.. more stuff= better, new style looks awesome, and even if it doesnt really fit into lore ( pandas were there before kung fu panda ) i really dont give a damn, its a game and its looks fun
how much stuff makes sense in todays gaming.. certainly civilization with 50 technologies for a game that is based around progress makes sense.. no it doesnt.. 500 would.. but they people still bought civ 5
Why do you even bother defending this shit? I mean i love blizzard too for stuff like diablo and the "old" wow, but since wrath it's been getting worse and worse and now it's like they're catering to mentally challenged people or kids... or both.
I'm glad i chose to quit this game before it went south completely.

Most people who play MMOs want their avatar to look awesome, pandas arent awesome, they are the center of mockery, even by Blizzard before this expansion. It doesn't look fun to be honest, and u can't avoid it by not playing them, because other people will, it just kills the atmosphere (what is left of it anyway).
It doesn't have to make much sense, as long as it doesn't seem to be out of place. Kung Fu Pandas is REEAAALLLY a long stretch, I mean wtf rofl.
And no, more "features" does not equal more fun. WoW has enough feature as far as a theme park MMO goes, they need to improve their current features and blow new life into the old content (cata was a decent step in the right direction).
Not that I am playing WoW but this is just an absurb move by Blizzard, obviously to appeal to the asian market.
you guys really think they do this to "appeal" the chinese market lol ?`really ? really ?
PS, i find the whole panda stuff bs aswell, but like smikis. rightly said, if kung fu panda wasnt just coming out, nobody would mind that. But the whole idea irritates me, to be honest.
But unlike others here, i dont draw weird conclussions lol. (the chinese market is pretty good just as it is, since they have now same version as the rest of world).
Adding panda would have next to no impact on chinese/asian market, thats for sure lol.

It has been done in the past, and it works. I have seen this happening to many games with succes. And yes, when we look at the absolute numbers, there are quite a number of asian players, but relatively speaking WoW hasn't penetrated the asian market like it has done in the west.

everything thats new = cool, everything that is popular =hated
i could give iphone as perfect example here.. what a ugly pos, yet when it was new everyone wanted one. just to have.. it was never about using it.. it was to have it.. same goes for new avatars, panda or murlocs everyone want them
and there is no reason to give any examples about popular= hated.. would it be wow or iphone.. both are

The first time Blizzard spoke about adding Pandaren to the game (years ago), a lot of Chinese people shouted that they can't do that and that the Chinese government would probably ban the game then, since the panda is holy over there. I wonder what changed...

Nothing, it was always a myth. There are games with pandas over there, no problem. Blizz wanted to add Pandarens in Burning Crusade, but didn't because it didn't fit with the theme.
Bones and skeletons, on the other hand, had to be censored from the Chinese version. This meant a lot of work since the game has an entire race (Forsaken) and expansion (wotlk) based around skeletons, but the game is still running in China.

I strongly disagree.
WoW and iPhone have a proven track record, so everything after the first amazing product (iphone in 2007 and WoW classic) they release will be popular. Why? Because it will be quality, whether you like the direction or not, it WILL be quality. For example, I am sure the new expansion will be a quality product (very polished, more content than any other MMO, constant updates etc etc.), but some choices are just ridiculous (like that martial arts panda shit).
Just like the iPhone, great product, but some choices made by apple are just outrages like no flash, itunes syncing with only 1 PC (WTF), mp3 conversion etc. etc. But overall a great product for the average Joe.
So no, don't compare the iPhone and WoW with Justing Bieber. Justing Bieber was shit from the beginning, and he deserves all the hate he gets.[/u]
