Since newer Motherboards do NOT have an IDE port anymore and all DVD+-R/DL Writers are all SATA actually,i was wondering something

I actually have Windows XP SP3 (a modified XP with less shit and more speed..) and an IDE LG Drive along with a SATA HDD..also my MB has free SATA ports left (like...only 1 is used (HDD) and is NOT in RAID...i think)

The question is

If i remove my IDE DVD Writer and put in a SATA DVD Writer (i found LG and ASUS ones),do i need to format Windows XP to make em detected or something?...is there any "Jumper" to move from the SATA Drive or now it's like...automatic? (Noob,i know)

Anything else i should know before buying a SATA DVD Writer?

Thanks in advance (No trolling plz)

Noobs couldnt thou...NO,i'm NOT calling you one..but i tried google (YES) and found people experiencing problems due to BIOS stuff or something *Shrugs*

Can i also just change the IDE drive to the SATA one directly (of course, with the tower turned off) so that whenever i power on,Windows / BIOS will detect it (in the BIOS' boot order) ?..

Sorry for my NOOBNESS,but Google is NOT ALWAYS the solution (spam/fake sites ;3 )
