So you waste a seemingly valuable game in order to have a 0.01% chance to win one yourself? that seems like a bad deal to me. I enjoy gathering my generated points and entering for free.

You don't waste anything. Do you know what's a giveaway/gifting?
You give something for free, with no strings attached. You are not looking to gain something... if you are that's not gifting. That's trading.
