I really like it's set in WWII, I like guns more than in modern era. At first there were mostly just Sci-fi shooters like Quake/UT, then WWII era came and there were only WWII FPS games, and now we are stuck in modern era...So seeing a new WWII FPS game is kind of refreshing to me. Why can't be there more variety, it's always one game sets a trend and all other follow it. I'm sick of that.

They've said they'd like to do a free weekend not long after release.

You were saying, juniR? That's why the "confusion" Oh and I never said you were gushing with praise, you might want to re-read my posts. |
I wouldn't listen to him, yes. Just like I wouldn't take an IGN review seriously.

The fact that they had the balls to price this as a full title simply boggles my fucking mind.
After 8 hours or so of playing the beta, I can confidently say that no less than 7 of those hours have been spent prone, in a stairwell or other shadowy place, mowing people down as they run across my iron-sights.
As soon as you make any semblance to fucking move to a place with more than 1 sight line...zing...dead...across the map, whether it be from MG, carbine, or SMG.
Tactical is one thing (by the way, how is bandaging a bullet wound you just sustained to your own back, in less than 2 seconds, tactical? ), but this shit is just fucking ludicrous.
All ranting aside, does anyone know STEAM's refund policy on pre-orders? I've always eaten my bad purchases....but this...this just fucking hurts knowing I wasted $40.
I've now experienced the digital equivalent of watching paint dry on a wall! |
Classic case of false expectations I guess? First of all, I wouldn't call it camping. It's more like stalemates all over the map and the key is to overcome those fortified positions, which is also pretty rewarding. It's just not the average run&gun MP shooter, even though they made RO2 way more accessible than RO1 was.
If you run down an alley thinking that you could take 1-2 shots and get in cover waiting for your health regen to give this fucker hell afterwards is the wrong approach. It's just simply wrong. You'll die like you deserve to for monkey&gun style.
And use your ears too since you're able to shoot through walls. Just be smart and you'll gain profit in RO2.
Nonetheless, the gamemode's (except FF) require at least one team to "defend" and to rant about them camping is like flaming the Terrorists in CS, after they planted the bomb, for defending Bombspot A/B.
Also the "camping" is imho pretty equal to the BF games in Territory mode since it plays exactly like Conquest for example.
Teamplay is another thing... this beta... is infested with people who're also had false expectations. Those people spawn with SMGs and run firing their weapons to the middle of the map and die... this happens 2-3 times and they start flaming the game in chat.
There is just no TP in the Beta what so ever. Buddy and me are sneaking to such fortified position, with a plan, and we're approaching our entrance slowly. Almost ready to start the attack... grenades/smoke first and such... SMGnoob storms through the door guns blazing and dies like the moron he is and get's us killed obviously...
That's how TP is in this Beta atm. I'm totally honest about this. But who's fault is that? The game's ? I don't think so...
To be honest, your "rant" sounds more like a jar full of salty eyewater to me. You seem butthurt because you shoved out money for something you don't like. Understandable yes, but in the same context you're flaming the game. It's not the Game's fault that you didn't make some research before you bought it imho.
But still, you're entitled to your opinion ofc

You're right about G43.
But the MKb 42(H) was also used in much lower numbers at Stalingrad than MG42, yet it is in the game. I think they had other reasons to keep that (awesome) MG out, maybe to maintain some balance.

Hopefully they do add it to the game later on. Asymmetric balance is more fun. Russians have the better SMG, germans get the better LMG.

Yes
Quote: | Stalingrad Campaign: The Stalingrad campaign will feature the multiplayer maps used in a campaign layout recreating the battle for Stalingrad from both the German and Russian sides. This will be enhanced with story elements through the form of mission introductions and in-game cinematic sequences that begin and end the campaign.
Single Player Campaigns: Play through a full German campaign AND a full Russian campaign, in iconic engagements from the Battle of Stalingrad. |

What I've been able to tell GMG's summersale coupons were to expire today or yesterday, but somehow this "survived", as I bought my copy of RO2 DDE using this code just a few hours ago. |
Thanks for the tip. I bought the regular version with this yesterday for 23.72 €. It doesn't work any longer..

No you can't on the same account mate. Need another account and also a different payment option - in other words you can't use the same credit card or paypal as the one you use for your existing account. Also I'm not sure if they track the IP you use - they do when giving freebies out. I don't see why they would not expect more than one person from the same address to buy this tho but they try and do what they can to stop ppl taking unfair advantage of special offers.

It's a beta for a start and really nobody should be saying whether this game is worth buying yet or not for that very reason. I certainly haven't - it's a punt if you don't understand what the RO franchise is all about. If I hadn't played RO1 I'd almost certainly think this was shit cos it just does not play like any other fps game I've played, is very buggy and doesn't look as nice as most. But I'd not jump to the conclusion that the game had to be rated on that basis.
How many games have you played beta in that were really fuckin' poor but you knew what the devs were trying to do because you UNDERSTOOD the franchise and knew they were gonna be hot? Everyone is of course entitled to an opinion but surely some opinions are more qualified than others? |
It is a beta but isn't it also supposed to go gold in a couple of weeks? Wasn't it delayed already?
The thing I find most amusing is how players treat betas nowadays - a beta should be for finding bugs, not playing and setting up clans and complaining how you get owned by others.
Even the official forums are full of whiners over how the game plays, that's not beta testing.
Of course this is my opinion and some of you are probably yelling at me to shut up. That's why closed betas are so much more helpful in the development of quality games, unfortunately they didn't do that with this title.

Yes they did. The closed beta has been going on for months, this is just the final phase.
This is a real beta, not a marketing "beta" that many AAA games make use of.

This game is pretty fucking awesome, I'm in the process of trying to make it run as fluid as possible on my machine however!
When a sniper scope reflects light, will I need any specific graphic option on for it?
