The art style of Diablo 3 is really nice. I for one never said otherwise. I also really like the cartoon steampunk art style of the Torchlight games. As others I love games like this, but why they never replaced Diablo for me was because of the lore from the Diablo games whicih I simply love. I did want to preorder Diablo 3 at first without any other thoughts, but not anymore, I'll never buy it probably, because of Blizzard's attitude and the stupid shit "features" they put in the game. On the other hand, I'll buy the boxed version of Torchlight 2 when I have money and if Grim Dawn will have a boxed version I'll buy that too.

I'm not a fan of the cartoony look at all. Torchlight is a great budget game but i find it hard to put in huge amount of hours into it like i did with D1+2 and TQ. It is a good game for what it is and it seems T2 will really expand on it. D3 has also clearly went in the same direction as well with the cartoony visuals and aesthetics. I just prefer a more realistic and detailed look, the OTT armor designs and detail lacking textures just isn't my thing, they come off as budget casual like, similar to Fate. D3 has some heavy wow influences as well regardless what anyone says. I'm not digging their armor designs at all. jmho.

I can honestly say i am looking forward to this more than i am Diablo III.
I am wondering though, will us PC people have to wait now that they have to completely redsign the game because it can't fucking work on the XBOX 360? Apparently it cant be squeezed down to Arcade file size standards and 512 megs of ram just won't work with it the way it stands. So, I wonder if they will release it on PC first and XBOX later after they do what needs to be done, or did they get a taste of that cash from the release of Torchlight on Arcade and going to make us wait for it so they can release it on Xbox first?

I was reading that article for the first time when I posted the first post. Guess that's what I get for not reading the whole thing before I got to the end and posted my 2nd post.

Just wish they'd switch the art style. That cartoony WoW-like art style does absolutely nothing for me. Hack'n'slash item grind or not, a huge part of what made D1/D2 so successful was the dark and brooding atmosphere.
Well, I suppose it's more accurate to say that D2 actually *had* atmosphere, whereas TL and TQ had...well, I don't know what it was, but it wasn't atmosphere. What do you call this?
I'm so glad this game is going to be just $20. I loved the first one and this will be a day one purchase for me. Can't wait to play with friends. I have no doubts that I'll an awesome ROI with this game. I'm a huge fan of Runic games. They are doing shit right. Kudos to them!!
Yeah, one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played, actually. And one of the greatest soundtracks gaming has had.
They lost most of it with D2 unfortunately, but even that one had about 100 times more atmosphere than, say, Torchlight 1 or Titan Quest.
Agreed about diablo 1. From the intro cinematics, all the way down to hell. Just superb, I have never came across anything like it. Diablo 2 had its moments, mostly with the cinematics, and the fact that is was a sequel of the fantastic diablo 1. But never came close, and I doubt diablo 3 will either.
But I get the feeling most people don't care that much about the atmosphere.
