Several shockingly impatient folks have broken down and already purchased the game, not being able to wait until the end of the week.

It may be that or as a couple others have said...they may be playing the game. If it's as good as y'all say it is, I know I'd play it before I gave it away.

Isnt that what you would want to in the first place anyway?! Neutral

I don't mind the highlighting. I actually find it helpful. I'm playing on Deus Ex difficulty, but you can still toggle highlighting on and off in game options. But visually, nothing changes.

I played Deus Ex through not that long ago.. maybe 4 or 5 months ago at most

A lot of it seemed very familiar..but something just doesn't quite feel right. Maybe it's the object interaction

The derpified conversation layout really doesn't do anything for me.

Not saying the game is bad, so far it's interesting, though it seems a little easy.
The whole take down thing is just way too overpowering. It usually only takes 5 seconds or less to figure out where the weak point is in a group of guards and start picking them off.

And so many guards in the first mission were static looking for something that they weren't much challenge at all.

Did you even pass the first part of the game?

Hehe.... yeah, that's a good point Pumpy. DraySpittle? You don't get the visio augments until you've finished the "tutorial" part of the game, so you won't see any highlighting anyhow.

I just had a really interesting conversation with Sarif.

Also, I had the Silvertongue (translation from German) bonus on all but one tries with until now (without the social aug). And I find those conversations really interesting and engaging! This is not comparable to the horrible conversation wheel in DerpEffect.

Was I imagining stuff then or did you have that aug from the get go in the beta? Maybe that's where I was getting confused. I barely played any of the beta so what little I did see might possibly have mashed together in my mind.

It was the same in the beta.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The beta was the first 10hrs (or so) of the retail game, everything from the opening cinematic to the HL-esque walk through the laboratory, to the tutorial, etc etc. Don't worry; you'll get your augs soon enough =)

Can someone answer a ? for me? I want to buy the game but everywhere I go (including my fav.. D2D) say I will have to install a ''3rd party software'' for the game to work. I'm assuming they mean Steamworks.. and I refuse to put Steam on my PC. Is Steamworks the same as a Steam account and their online software? Is this game going to be available as a hardcopy at my local stores? I'll buy it that way then. Even a retail hardcopy probably has Steamworks as it's protection though.

Steamworks isn't Steam perse, it's just a way for 3rd party developers to get their game integrated with Steam. It's totally safe.

Yeah, I played it less than 20 minutes though. (super self control) I can't remember if I even completed the tutorial. Laughing I probably just imagined it.

On the bright side, I didn't realize you could enable the reticule in game options. That's way more preferable than piss vision. Woohoo!

Yeah, I remember that too. We were talking about it a few weeks back, something like "hard times are coming, you people don't know how easy you've had it" or something. I predicted then, as you have now, that it could well mean the scene is going back where it come from; underground. No more of this torrent/usenet/ftp nonsense that everyone and their grandmother has -- just underground link sharing between crackers and suppliers.

God I hope not Sad

God this game is amazing... There is only one negative thing I have to say so far and that is that the difficulty is still to easy for my taste. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty and I don't find it very hard at all, but then I do play very carefully and methodically... Razz I suppose it'll be harder when I play a lethal/action style character on my next playthrough though, being sneaky on this non-lethal playthrough really does pay off.

So it's a standard now how hard or easy a game is on this subjective term "normal"? Scratch Head

Well son of a bitch - I went through my entire first play-through on the hardest difficulty, being extra super careful not to harm a fucking fly (stealth, tranqs, stun), yet I still didn't get the "Pacifist" achievement.
Now I'm sitting here, dumbfounded, going over the last 30 hours of my play through in my head wondering where someone could have died by my hand. So utterly crushed. Sad

I did however manage to get "Foxiest of Hounds", kinda proud about that! Very Happy

I wanted to start my second play through on normal and just go balls to the wall, but a part of me wants to replay it stealth yet again to try and get that achievement. What to do what to do

Did you kill anyone during the "intro" - before Jensen got augmented? Maybe that counts as well?

Oh fuck! I didn't think that would count. I mean, for fucks sake...you have NOTHING but that assault rifle.

Was mentioned a couple of times - the intro counts as the playthrough; and is totally stealthable if you use a liberal amount of auto-saving and auto-loading.

It will be cracked soon or late, it's just a matter of time.
But how do you know I won't buy it ? Very Happy
...and BTW, there is a "Normal" difficulty in the options, right ? At least it was like that in the beta version. So, why is it a shame to use it... Scratch Head
