Im going to a surgical supply store in the morning and Im gonna try some gas stations for the water. i fucking MUST fix this problem before Deus Ex 3 releases. So I have a little under 24 hours to figure out what the problem is and make my PC usable again even if with one GPU
Problem: Either PCI-E slot #1, GPU #1, or PCI-E slot #1 when SLI is used.
Plan:
1. Fill the PC with water and test GPU #2 in PCI-E slot #1 by itself. If all okay, empty out water and replace GPU#2 with GPU#1.
2. Fill the PC with water and test GPU #1 in PCI-E slot #1 by itself. If no picture, then GPU#1 is fucked up. If all okay, empty out water and add both cards just flipped (GPU#1 in slot #2 and GPU#2 in slot #1)
3. Fill the PC with water and test. If GPU in slot #1 is undetected again, motherboard is fucked and will have to replace that AFTER deus ex... in this case, empty out the water, remove a GPU, fill the PC with water and play with one GPU until I beat the game before classes begin next week

 | Yeah, be careful with that "imma fix this as soon as possible" ideas, most of the time that's how you end up ruining your stuff (or... what's left of your stuff).

Perhaps I forgot to mention that my TV is fried! Also I wouldn't be able to burn the game since this dell laptop Im using only has a regular dvd drive. Not that I would play the console version even if I had the burner and my TV was working
And regarding the distilled water, I literally spent an entire day going around town looking for distilled water and found only one place which is where I went tonight but theyre always sold out unless I go on the day they get shipments which is tuesday. Cuz everybody knows this is the only place to get the distilled water so they all stock up on that shit
fuck it Im buying 3 gallons on tuesday |
Timechange01, you can get distilled water from your Air Conditioner. It would be easier if you have a split AC as the pipe would fill up your bottle faster.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

The distilled water coming out of the AC is getting wasted anyway. It's perfectly safe to collect the water from it.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I found out that a bolt of lightning hit a railing in my backyard that is just 2 feet outside of my window. Apparently it was loud as shit and all the neighbors heard it (one of them was in their bathroom taking a shower and they heard it as well). And somebody saw a yellow light coming from towards my house which lasted for maybe two or 3 seconds.
What are the chances
The AC water idea would be fine except I need about a gallon of the distilled water. That would just take too long. I need extra water for the initial rinsing. When I empty my loop, it has bit of leftover biocide+water which I like to rinse out so that I can add the perfect amount of biocide again when Im done (at the very end). Too much biocide leads to accelerated electrolysis and too little biocide leads to algae growth in the loop.
I spoke on the phone with the pharmacy store I go to and they are getting new shipment tonight and told me to come early tomorrow morning.

Still, gas stations usually have it in larger canisters AND cheaper so it's better idea to try there

Well its not very expensive at the place I buy it from. A gallon of it costs a little over 1 dollar.
I was able to get in touch with the guy I purchased GPU#1 from and hes more than happy to help me RMA it which is awesome as fuck. So I just have GPU#2 in my rig at the moment in PCI-E slot#1 and everything is working beautifully. Ran a few stress tests and played a few games and everything is running normal.
So Im pretty sure its the GPU#1 that got fucked up by the lightning since that randomly stopped giving picture and was no longer detected in my BIOS or device manager. The only reason I can think of as to why GPU#1 was the only component that got fucked is that during the storm, I had an HDMI cable connected from that GPU#1 to the TV that got fried. So maybe that HDMI cable had something to do with it. Its really the only thing I can think of otherwise more of my computer components should have been fucked too but theyre not. So for now Il just roll with 1 GPU while that fucked GPU gets replaced by EVGA over the next few weeks
Bring on Deus Ex
