I have an old sony ericsson w300i and im sick of it. Id like a smartphone with wifi, a decent camera and it something that isnt irritably slow. Id prefer something cheap. Atm ive set my eyes on samsung galaxy gio and htc wildfire S
With android you have to consider several things, if you don't want to have a laggy piece of shit:
RAM, CPU and internal memory!
RAM: Should not be less than 512 MB. End of story.
CPU: Should not be less than 800 MHz.
Internal Memory: Don't buy a desire. Really Get something with at least a gig of internal memory (where the apps are mainly stored), EVEN if you can add a bigger SD Card.
I have this almost new iPhone 3GS I was planning to throw... eh sell away in the next 3 month. It's almost as good as new and opens beer bottles like a boss. Some of the casing plastic is missing but that adds to its aerodynamics when thrown onto the ground.

Seems that my operator has some smartphone deals so I might be able to afford more expensive phones. gonna have to do some research to see if its worth to change my contract.
Bought myself a Galaxy s2 a few weeks back, and it's fucking amazing. You might not have the awesome game selection as Ishits and such has, but i love the customizability and the smoothness.
Don't know much about phones, I think I'd just get the iPhone if I had to buy one. Pay it in one go and save money, the subscription thing is a scam. Like all loans

At least the Desire is working great out-of-the-box, the Samsung has better quality though, but some shit with it isn't right, dialer, for one is annoying as hell.

The iPhone 4 still gets slightly ahead in ppi, but that in turn does quite a lot worse in contrast/black levels and colour accuracy, so it's a pretty straight-up trade off
one i got, same resolution as most androids 480*800
800mhz cpu , 512 rom/ram , 2gb sd included, 5mp cam and 720p video recording which is quite decent, reviews will say it doesnt but it got fixed long ago by firmware upgrade.
At 300 euros its a small bump from the 240 euros for the wildfire s ( which isnt a bad phone for the price at all, if not way better than comparable samsungs )
But if you want super amoled then phones like the samsung galaxy will cost you 500 euros. i decided it wasnt worth it since the acer does everything i want it to do at excellent speed.

Galaxy S stock 2.3.3 works great. 2.2 was shitty.
actually you're right, all the people who i know who own a Galaxy S said that the 2.2 was shit and since they upgraded the phone got alot better
