Great, lets make the people who felt the need to steal stuff even poorer, it's not like they will go out and commit more crime.

Kinda stupid that I should be given a vote on this. I am not a UK citizen.

Yea, it is too harsh. If you take all pensions away from riot convicted people the government just has to support them anyway through welfare. And why should the riots be considered any different then being convicted of any other crime? Non-riot Murder, assaults, and drunken disorder are just as bad in my books.

Sometimes I think the world with sooo many unhappy people is just a tinder box waiting to explode.

Well if they are on benefits they can't have much money.

I don’t think anyone really *needs* to steal anything, regardless if it is a riot or not. That is why is expensive stuff always targeted rather then a loaf of bread regardless if it is a riot or not. All a riot does is provide a different window opportunity. As with most crime an attractive window of opportunity is Irresistible

The only difference with riots is that seemly normal people get caught up and influenced into the action of it all. The followers, the sheep, and the weak.

I thought they meant benefits more as old age pensions but I looked it up.

You may be entitled to receive benefits if you are on a low income or have certain costs to meet because of your personal situation.
Check our information

If any of the following apply to you:

you're on a low income (employed or looking for work)
you have dependent children
you're ill or disabled
you're caring for someone
you're aged 60 or over
you have been bereaved
you're pregnant or have recently had a baby

You can check whether you may qualify to receive financial or other support by using the benefits adviser service. Or by reading the benefits and financial support information. This will tell you who can and can't claim specific benefits and other support, and next steps.

Benefits advice if you are of working age

If you are of working age, you can contact Jobcentre Plus. Whether you are already working or are looking for work, the staff there will be able to tell you about any benefits you can claim. You can find the contact details for Jobcentre Plus in the phone book or by visiting the Jobcentre Plus website.

Still, they can't let someone starve.
