Haha yeah actually my parents only bought two games for me, both for the SNES: Mortal Kombat II and King of Dragons.
Back when DX1 was released I was just a teenage pirate
I just purchased through Steam, other sites offered same price or even a bit higher.
Now I want to download, dammit!
Deus Ex1 = June 26, 2000
If you were just a tiny teenager in 2000, how old were you when you played king of dragons or MK2? 3 Years old? I bet dad said " hey mom, lets buy that SNES.... for our kid, course.

I was a teenager in 2000 (14) and my parents allowed me to play the MK games just fine. It's my mum in fact who got me into gaming, she's dying to get Broken Sword for Android
And I know for a fact that several other people on the hump have similar stories

Nothing about that, my father is allways asking for me to install race simulators in his PC.
But at 14 you could be a parent too...

I was 18 at the time, though granted, a SMALL teenager back then... Sadly dad's too old for games or even rock music (old and old fashioned!) so he never got me into gaming....
Was just my natural calling
Still can't believe I just purchased a game!
Wouldn't be possible if not for pirates leaking the "demo".
I played the game through almost twice for my review. It's going be an aqcuired taste, but for people like me who loved the first game, the cool thing is that Human Revolution is very much like that game in...in it's structure, locations, flow etc. That was pretty surprising.

Finnish Pelaaja magazine gave it a 9 out of 10. They only complaint the reviewer seemed to have was about item management and that the action doesn't feel as good as in Call of Duty or even Bioshock. And it doesn't top the original. He also said that it took him way over 20 hours to complete the game with almost all the side missions done.

I just with the industry would learn something from this. If you make a GOOD game and (in this case involuntarily but that's not the point) release a decent demo that actually shows some gameplay you get sales.

Good news!
Over 20 hours to complete in

PS: Oh WOW Adam's voice actor has almost the same voice as the character he plays! Plus he likes playing completely non-lethal
He sort of looks like Adam too. Hire him as the lead for a Hollywood adaptation

Final Fantasy VI. That was the last time I was THIS excited for an upcoming game..... and that was back in '94. I got close to that level of eagerness with FFVIII, SW-KoTOR2 and Phantasy Star Online though.

Gamereactor won't review the game at all, because Square Enix made some very unreasonable demands of them.
Quote:
It wont come, at all infact. Sorry. Square Enix has unreasonable demands for an "review session" which led us to turn them down and we won't be reviewing the game at all. Bummer, sure, but we cannot accept the type of demands that Square has. It would hurt our credibility and these type of demands is not something we will ever agree too.
Read: we will take you to a ***** hotel to review the game with all expenses paid and will give you free copies of the collector's edition and swag... as long as it gets at least 9
It seems that Square Enix is REALLY pushing for the game to get as high scores as possible.
Plus the countless trailers they've released, and keep releasing, and the variety of them, from CGI trailers to gameplay trailers, developer diaries, community questions, live action trailers, comics, book, in-universe website, etc it's very heavily promoted.
"Two weeks before the game's launch, I was flown from San Francisco to LAX; from there, I was driven to Santa Monica airport where I was given a flight helmet customized with my gamertag," Tae Kim wrote about his experience reviewing the game. "I was then put into a helicopter and flown to Ojai, California, a small town about two hours north of Los Angeles. After landing in a field, I was driven to the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, where I was given a posh suite to stay in for three days." The suite had a 360, a copy of the game, and a nice 3D television hooked up to a surround-sound system.
There was a separate area with 30 stations set up so reviewers could try the multiplayer portion of the game. "I was also given a Mad Catz Call of Duty Black Ops branded headset," Kim wrote. "At the end of the trip, I was allowed to keep the flight helmet and the Mad Catz headset. All travel and accommodations, including food, were covered by Activision."

Only things i would add to the game would be a bigger inventory and more side missions to each hub area, at least the first one (in the beta) felt empty and underused. Everything else is win

The trailer released couple of days ago revealed that later in the game you revisit the hubs and find them "changed", with new quests to do (and possibly new paths?).
This is also the reason why it looks there are only 2 hubs in the game, because you revisit them and there are new things to do.
