So I ordered a new TV and thought that buying a decent sound setup in the (near) future would be wise. But the problem I have is that before I can start looking for anything I need to decide between buying a prebuilt audio system or assembling the parts myself. I'm not going for some audiophile heaven system but still want something decent. So if I bought myself a good receiver and some good speakers would it have a better sound quality/price ratio than some set which also has a built in Bluray player and other bells and whistles which I dont necessarily need.
I've never liked all-in-one solutions, they always sacrifice something. Good amp + speakers combined with a separate player (build an HTPC!) will always be better in my opinion
It's simple really. Are you willing to do some research and pay more for individual components and consequently better quality, or are you fine with getting a decent product without any effort? I don't know where you live, we have Saturn/Mediamarkt here. The guys working there are remarkably well informed, even a bit dorky.
