Im thinking of moving to vancouver, been looking around for information about migration etc.

I dont have a college degree, although I'm currently studying to take icnd2 which is part of cisco ccna certification pack and then im going for ccnp and maybe a few microsoft certs before i search for work.

Anyone know if theres a need for network engineers/domain admin positions in vancouver? hows the IT-sector in canada?

I read something about applying for visa based on work experience, currently i have 5 years of experience with networking and domain administration.

There is hardly any work in Vancouver right now dude.

My best friend lives in Van and he tried to get me a job and I am highly qualified and I couldnt find one.
Its hard to find work in Vancouver and Toronto and Montreal right now in Canada.
And the US, especially North Eastern states like NY, New England area etc its alot worse...and out west in the the US (Cali and Seattle) are even worse.

damn, depends what you think of as work ..
you can't expect a foreigner, especially someone from Easter Europe to get a good job a first, something low end that should just for extremly cheap living has to be available.
My friend and his gf lived for 3 months in Pitsburgh last year, both worked at McDonalds and made a little over 1 grand each a month and they were doing really well. Found cheap rent for like 150 bucks in a not so decent neighbourhood and my friend just blew all the money away buying a 1700$ laptop and a shitload of Corona.

You can probably find work in Calgary. But i doubt it would be IT work. You probably would have to look for an oil field job. Really good pay, probably starting at 60-80K. But it would be field work, living in camp etc. And you would have to work with some interesting people. Wink
