Hello, my name is... uh... dave... yes, that'll do...
and i have a problem.
its been 10 seconds since my last download, and i just... cant... fucking stop. tonight, i realised i am utterly addicted to pirating. I download shit i dont even want, and have no intention of watching or playing. last month i downloaded both transformers films in 1080p... one of them was like 18 gigs. tonight i downloaded armageddon and avatar in 1080, and those are about 40 gigs combined. i even downloaded a 720p of ghosts of mars, and at the moment im downloading HAWX 2.
tonight was the night i realised i have a problem.
i have a download limit cap every month with my isp, but i found out that my isp (probably due to laziness) doesnt check if i have gone over my limit until a certain time every night... hence i found i can bust my max download limit by waiting until AFTER that time, and then downloading as much as i can before the following nights limit check.
tonight was such a night... i found myself staying up all night just to download as much shit as i possibly could, just to get the most out of my monthly download limit. there wasnt anything i even wanted, i judt felt COMPELLED to get as much shit as possible.
tonight was the night i realised i have a problem.
hello, my name is... uh.. brian... and im a pirate.

its been 10 seconds since i started download, and i just... hit... my fucking quota limit. tonight, i realised i am utterly restricted from pirating. I want to download shit i dont even want, and would have no intention of watching or playing. but i can't. last month i downloaded both transformers films in 1080p... one of them was like 18 gigs. that was my quota for the year. tonight i downloaded armageddon and avatar in 1080, and those are about 40 gigs combined. i will get a letter from the lawyer tomorrow that i wasted my country's internets limit for the rest of the year. i even downloaded a 720p of ghosts of mars, and at the moment im downloading HAWX 2. i want to learn how to fly jets and colonize mars if people come at me with pitchforks.
tonight was the night i realised i have a problem.

you know, i think the data cap is whats causing my to pirate.
im of that mentality where if i have a limited amount of something thats 'mine', i want to make sure i use it all, else ill be paying for something im not getting.
if the fools would uncap me, id never feel pressured into making the most (and beating) my maximum 'allowance'.
ITS THE FUCKING SYSTEM THATS DONE THIS TO ME THIS ISNT ME. I DONT WATCH BAYFORMERS DAMMIT... THEYVE TURNED ME INTO A MOOONNNSSTTAAAARRRRR

just get a job that consumes all your time.
I used to squeeeeze every MB out of my 50GB limit every month. Just started looking around at the end of the month for series or movies or games to download just to get to the 50GB limit, you paid for it, right? I even had a little website database thingie to have an overview with movies/runtime/genre etc linked to IMDB (back in the days there were no media managers...)
I even burned them on CDs or DVDs, print the covers, store them in cd racks. Then when a chickie came over, ask for genre, runtime, year, actor. Pull out a list from the computer: movie A: rack C, movie B: rack A, etc and let them choose. Impressive huh! But you know, college student, too much time, watching movies all day long, drinking in the evening, and taking a class now and ten...
Then I started working and I think my rate of watching movies dropped instantly from 50/month to 2 or 3 a month and I even go to the cinema most of the time because I am really fed up with browsing through crap releases on piratebay, downloading, waiting 20 30 minutes (!), finding appropriate subtitles (that are in sync) and then watching it. It also helped that i lost my entire 1000+ movie collection in a nice theft and I realised i did not miss it because i never watched 70% of the collection anyway and the other 30% i had watched and did not want to rewatch...
Why you downloading it anyway if you are not consuming it directly? If you ever need it, just download it again. I cannot count how many times i downloaded the same MS Office versions over and over again. I used to download every version of office (nl, eng, multilang; 2001, 2003 dunno what versions exist) and store it on a disc, well just in case and need to consume the limit. ... Now i download, install, delete. Download for dad, burn cd, give away, delete. download for brother, burn cd, delete.
Also a huge costsaver... I used to have a 50euro connection, 50Mbit, 50GB up and down bladibladibla. Now I am on a 12 euro connection with 8Mbit, and a 10 or 20 GB limit (i dont even know and check, i am never going over it anywayz); i just chose the cheapest there is (and is no dial in charging per minute...) Saves me a 400-500 euros a year which is a nice little holiday and so much more time to do interesting stuff

50 movies a month?! I have the time to watch a lot of movies if I want but I would just get a headache from watching even 1 movie a day.

well yeah, you have to know I study quite good and fast, so I was utterly bored during college time...
I would go to class and fall asleep because of the slow pace. So I went home, did it on my own and had hours of spare time when all my friends were in class... So what to do then? Not much you can do on your own besides wanking and being at the computer or reading a book.
Well 50 movies is maybe a bit exagerated. 20min series is not a movie. But i watched well over 1000 movies and a shitload of series during my 5 yr of college and maybe 50 the last 3 years of working. so the contrast was quite big... When I went to the cinema with a girl back in the days it was reaaally hard to find anything that I had not seen yet (slooow releases in belgian cinemas...) nowadays I dont even know what is running in the cinema or which actors are hot celebs atm.
