That's strictly your opinion. I don't like hip-hop either, but I don't shit all over people who do like it. As for these two douches (J Cole and Killer Mike), both seem to have some degree of critical praise by reviewers.

I love how my post some pages back containing a quality hip hop was completely omitted by you and instead you choose to use a dumb emoticon on a song that you can quickly point out is weak.

Here's the aforementioned post:

Quote:
When it comes to proper hiphop, nothing beats Dälek. It's a mix of hiphop, industrial and Amon Tobin-ish feel [electronic I guess], with great, and I mean fucking great lyrics. I listen to metal mostly and I love him.

Seriously, give it a listen. 6 minutes of awesome. Especially if you follow the lyrics. Just some verses here:

Make our leaders play minstrel, Left with none to lead our people.
How the fuck am I gonna shake your hand, when we never been seen as equals?
Deemed evil by those housed in church steeples.
False prophets read backwards from broken tablets to the feeble

If stars align I suppose even the blind will see,
How they stole our last voice, corrupted culture into industry.
Few minutes remain,
A tame soul wanders wild when it dreams.

Conscience calls thoughts subliminal
Actions all cyclical
Deplorable descendants of men depressed clinical.
Answers seem visible when visionless
Useless souls fold under pressure like hands pray to false Jesus.

Also from another song:

In midst of this madness it's madmen that win
Even when we vote the opposite it all reverts to Regan
Silly Christian pagans
Still clutching myths dated back to ancient Babylon
That might unravel dawn
Misconstrued world view used to assault the misinformed kings
That move and act like pawns
Artist's conform and play minstrel
Police State treats our young as criminals
Why pray to Roman death symbols?

This is probably my favourite verse:

Inner City streets still reek of our inner turmoil
Killing melanined equates to X amount of oil
They're telling tall tales to keep our eyes on foreign soil
Hearing truth from poor lips makes their blue blood boil

I like the darkish sexy tune of the instruments, but the lyrics are just to pop and futile for my taste.

How many times have I posted already that music is not what is being sung by a human voice, but rather what is being conveyed instrumentally through an association of musical instruments!

That's exactly why I can never consider hip hop as music, if you listen to any hip hop song, if you remove the singing component, you end up with a boring sample that bores you after 10 seconds!

EDIT: also, can you please tell me how a guy singing about his pregnant girlfriend isn't as futile as a subject theme can be?

Which just proves my point that you didn't even open the video I posted. Dälek doesn't use samples at all in his music, but rather create an industrial/noise background to it. How can you expect anyone to listen to you while you don't even bother checking the video? Rolling Eyes

Hell, Dälek even has INSTRUMENTAL songs. Do you think they're all sampled?

That wasn't my point. My point was that you have some sorts of double standards- first you say that you don't care about the lyrics even if it's an amazing poem, and now you like the song but the lyrics are too stupid? What the hell?

Anyway...

The Strokes are good imo, their first album (Is This It) is definitely brilliant. I'm not a huge fan of alt rock/indie rock but there are several recent bands worth listening to (early Franz Ferdinand, Arcade Fire, The National, The Libertines etc.)

New songs uploaded by oabbasi:

Blood Stain Child - Sirius VI - I'm impressed by how great this combination of genres sounds.
Nox Doloris - Requiem For A Dream - One big fan of the original song and this is just amazing, absolutely love it!
Zero Degree - The Fog - More quality metal from Germany, great!
Nightside Glance - Changing Lives - Really love their style!
Ioannis Anastassakis - Abori Horizon - More progressive and instrumental metal is always good (I guess).

Also, this:

+1

There are genres of music that I don't like because I simply do not understand them. Calling hip-hop "bad music" as a kind of general statement says more about you than it does about the music. You're not really presenting an argument here. I think there's a lot of bad hip-hop out there, namely everything dealing with "let's get bitches and hoes and money". Even that is a pretty bad generalization as Iceberg Slim was pretty good at that, and Gil Scott Heron was pretty good at that. Zack de la Rocha is basically doing hip-hop to a heavier beat, to me it's all about the story, the rhymes, the depth of the lyrics - like good poetry to a beat, something that speaks to your mind.

I don't relate to the stories in the videos previously posted, but they're stories. They talk and reflect on topics that some duders can relate to. As with a lot of things there is a certain audience that certain music is aimed toward. I'm pretty sure a lot of people dislike Frank Zappa for instance (he did hip-hop too) but in general it is because they don't get 12-tone music, they aren't open minded enough, or cannot relate to it or take time to 'get it'.

But I guess to a lot of duders music has to be like some action movies, a lot of flashy brutal shit all through, and story + characters don't matter. Guess it's a matter of different taste, but I really don't think so. I just think some people just don't 'get' good music. Probably the same people who couldn't tell the difference between a false note and a clear one.
