Never thought he was a loser, actually think he is quite brilliant. However I also tend to dislike to guy for several other reasons, and this certainly did not change my mind.

I still believe he is a powerhungry asshat whom I hate with a fiery passion. Just because he has had hardships in life hardly makes him "special", the only difference between him and most people is that for some reason this guy gets paid to tell his life story on events like these.
He's no more of a genius than Bill Gates, Gabe Newell, Oprah (yes, I'm mentioning her) or any of the college dropouts and self-made millionaires/billionaires.
Wanna know why I still think this guy is a prick?
See those 3 I mentioned above? All three are known for their charity work. Jobs isn't. I haven't kept tabs on it in the past couple of years, but back in 2009 Gates organised this event to get the richest people in the world to donate half their wealth (which in his case is 'normal') - up to that point, Jobs has not made any donations anywhere, nor has his wife, nor has he been involved with any real charity that I know of. They could be doing it anonymously, but there's no charities that have reported any really big anonymous donations either.
Not to mention that half of Apple's "ideas" are stolen and/or bought, without them giving credit where it is due. Again, Microsoft and Valve do that differently; or to take one of their competitors in the mobile market, so does HTC.
So yes, he's still a loser. His company has aweful business ethics (or rather, lacks them), and as a person I have much more respect for any of the other people I mentioned.
My God... why did I even bother . This is not whether you like Jobs or the Mac. This is about the man's remarkable vision, optimism and guts. He got successful by not whining but instead planning how he can improve his life and that of *others.
*Yes except for some unfortunate Chinamen that work in his factories, are being exploited and jump off a skyscraper. But those incidents happen at all major corporations. Which is no excuse of course, but they're not unique to Apple or Jobs as some might imply.

Actually, Apple's conditions for their workers are far worse than those for Samsung or HTC for example. Plenty of reports on those factories from journalists. Of course they get shit wages and have to do crappy work just the same, but Apple breaks laws on top of that (child labour).
And what the fuck are you saying "his life and others"? Like I said, he doesn't do fuck for others, including his workers. Remarkable vision, optimism and guts? No more than the other people I mentioned.
You say "why did I even bother" - right back at you, because you obviously didn't even bother reading my post, which is based on well known facts.
Funny how Jobs used to be seen as the white knight fighting for freedom and Bill Gates as the devil, trying to take everyone's soul.
Oh how the tides have turned.

That's because, maybe, just maybe.. once upon a time, Jobs WAS like that. Now he's just a money-grabbing scab, the very image of the corporate nation he once mocked. Worse though is exactly as Werelds said; Bill Gates may have been unscrupulous in his rise to power -- but god damn if he hasn't bloody earned it. The amount of money that man and his wife give away is mind boggling.
Steve started critiquing the layout on a purely esthetic basis. "That part's really pretty", he proclaimed. "But look at the memory chips. That's ugly. The lines are too close together".
George Crow, our recently hired analog engineer, interrupted Steve. "Who cares what the PC board looks like? The only thing that's important is how well that it works. Nobody is going to see the PC board."
Steve responded strongly. "I'm gonna see it! I want it to be as beautiful as possible, even if it's inside the box. A great carpenter isn't going to use lousy wood for the back of a cabinet, even though nobody's going to see it."
George started to argue with Steve, since he wasn't on the team long enough to know that it was a losing battle. Fortunately, Burrell interrupted him.
"Well, that was a difficult part to layout because of the memory bus.", Burrell responded. "If we change it, it might not work as well electrically".
"OK, I'll tell you what," said Steve. "Let's do another layout to make the board prettier, but if it doesn't work as well, we'll change it back."
So we invested another $5,000 or so to make a few boards with a new layout that routed the memory bus in a Steve-approved fashion. But sure enough, the new boards didn't work properly, as Burrell had predicted, so we switched back to the old design for the next run of prototypes.

I remember something about a couple of Apple bashers admitting they own Apple gadgets themselves... Not sure I recollect correctly but I think these are the culprits

I think you'll find my opinion on the company and it's creator haven't changed - and that I have never bashed the iTouch. Conversely, I believe you'll find - prior to August 2010 when I purchased mine - a great deal of my posts lamenting the lack of cash to get one. There was no "admittance" on my part, no quite the opposite; I have long held the very vocal opinion and desire to get a Touch for myself. I think you'll find that the only machines I have openly, consistently, criticised; are the Macs themselves. This will never change. The Mac is fucking clown shoes compared to anything else on the market.... clown shoes that happens to be magnitudes weaker, yet magnitudes more expensive (PRETTY!!!! Herr Derr!) than hardware far superior.
Using a product does not automatically guarantee love of the company that made it. Constant defence of said company does, however, make you a RAGING fanboy the likes of which this board hasn't seen before. You can attack me all you like, the fact of the matter is; I have never changed my stance. Apple is a pathetic company run by soulless cretins marketing overpriced and overhyped, bi-yearly obsoleted, devices to a populace of blind, willing, sheep.
Good day, sir.

Unlike the Apple tardos, I can own a product and still criticize it. Such a challenging concept, I know.

Vision? You mean selling existing stuff in white designed plastic boxes and create a cult around it? He's on the same level as L Ron Hubbard as far as I'm concerned.
