Who was Machiavelli? He was an Italian historian, philosopher, writer from the 16th century who we now know by a classic statement: "The end justifies the means."

here is the test: http://www.salon.com/books/it/1999/09/13/machtest

My score: 53

If you score very high here is some food for more thoughts:

And you got a score in either extreme that you don't want to become public out of fear of being judged by it? Cool Face

Machiavellianism is also a term that some social and personality psychologists use to describe a person's tendency to deceive and manipulate other people for their personal gain.

Quote:
Machiavellianism is one of the three personality traits referred to as the dark triad, along with narcissism and psychopathy. Some psychologists consider Machiavellianism to be essentially a subclinical form of psychopathy, although recent research suggests that while Machiavellianism and psychopathy overlap, they are distinct personality constructs.

Okay, you people with above 60-70, you're a bunch of self-serving psychopaths. Cool Face

I'm not surprised because lately I've seen that it's beneficial being good only to few ppl you trust the most.

If you try to help someone, they will fuck you over, happened to me this year in uni, so it's time for payback Twisted Evil

In my defense I'm a dick only to ppl who are dicks towards me Very Happy

Machiavelli himself never did say "the end justifies the means". In fact, he was very much against such reasoning. He claimed that the leader (the prince, the tyrant, whoever) should do whatever is necessary to reach his goals (for the good of the people), but chosing evil ways only as a last and unavoidable resort. It is very different. And I hate machiavelli, by the way. He was a sucker. And his writings are boring.

The test is pretty interesting though. I got 74.

Is the test broken? Both Chrome and IE refuse to load the results. Sad

edit: NVM, it was the pop-up blocker.

My score is 88. Laughing

well the point, according to machiavelli, is that evil should be avoided at all times, unless its really necessary.

IMO, some results justify some evil means, but usually that doesn't happen.

Or I got an average score and it wasn't significant, but liked the questions as they posed me to reflect on them.

Or, I don't treat these forums as some kind of confessional.
