So I suppose I'm the last man on earth to play the Deus Ex 3 beta?
Anyway.
Liked it. In fact: Loved it so far.
This feels so cyberpunk~esque that I felt reminded of Shadowrun most of the time.
Nerdgasm galore.
For some unknown reason the guy voicing Adam really reminded me of the voice of Walton Simons I beleive. I know it's not the same voice actor, still xD
What I got from the demo: Reminded me much more of Deus Ex 1 than 2.
Like I said I loved it so far. Actually that much that I'm probably gonna buy it once it's out.

I in fact thought of Olyphant as well, might be because I recently rewatched Deadwood though
God I wish they'd at least put a decent end on that

I am having an issue,
Spoiler: | I made the mistake of not taking that rocket launcher in the FEMA facility and now I am having a very tough time killing that Augmented Merc.I knew that launcher sitting there was a clue that it might be needed for whats lurking ahead but I figured it was jusat more MECH's and I have a few EMP grenades.....Oops. | [/spoiler]
I do agree that it has that Shadowrun feeling especially with the hacking.Loving it.

I had the launcher but didn't use it.
Throwed 3 frag mines at his feet plus a full clip (50 rounds) from the combat rifle to his face (that 0 recoil aug helps with this) brought him down in ~15 seconds.

There's some different information on just how long the beta is, common guess is that it's that first third or so of the game but it could also be substantially more (More than half by some estimations.), we'll see when it's out though it doesn't sound that unlikely as per the end of the beta it kinda has the game moving towards a conclusion baring any plot changes or similar of course, game length is unknown after all.

If that was the case it would be really bad. That would mean only 1-3 maps give or take for the whole game.Sure there was plenty to do in the beta but nowhere near enough for a full game.It would be a huge letdown if it was that short.

From what we've seen in the demo it looks like more of 1/3 judging by the mercenaries you fight. My guess is that there is a city hub+mission map/boss. So we should have at least 2 more hubs and 2 more missions + maybe another final mission.

We know there will be at least (but that doesn't mean there will be more) 3 hubs, and the confirmed number of cities in total is 5.

Apparently after E3 journos have decided that the game is "clunky, old and bad".

As we soon learned, it really wasn’t the game’s fault that we sucked. In a world of mindless shooters, this is a thinking man’s game…
Not really knowing what we were doing, we started handling it like we would any other FPS. When we saw enemies, we shot them. When we came across locked doors, we hacked them. When we were spotted by security cameras, we blew them the hell up. We played through some minor platforming segments, fought in a few gun battles, and eventually made the mistake of pulling our weapon out in a room with one too many guards in it. It ended poorly. It was fun, but we weren’t seeing what made it different from the dozen other shooters within 100 feet of the Square-Enix booth.
Conveniently, just as we were killed, the developer-guided demo was beginning.
When he did wander into a restricted area, he was able to quietly take down guards with melee attacks (he can be quiet?), and drag them into rooms (he can do that?) as to not attract unwanted attention. By upgrading and equipping different augmentations (there were upgrades?!), Adam gained abilities to let him walk quietly and survive long falls (WHAT?!). It’s not all about stealth, either. Augmentations can be equipped to help in combat situations, be it by steadying Adam’s aim or letting him left heavy objects. Our sniper attack did little but attract the attention of more guards—theirs, executed with an augmentation that steadied Jensen’s aim, cleared the room. |

Patrick said they had a build in the office and was fairly dismissive. He said it had more in common with Invisible War than the original which is his favorite game of all time. It sounded like he'd put some time in with it. He then went on to hype up Prey 2 saying it felt more like the original Deus Ex than Human Revolution. |
DE:HR being more similar to DE:IW than DE1?
Prey 2 being a better successor to DE1 than DE:HR?
WAT??? Fucking journos.. I can see the game getting slaughtered like they did to Alice: Madness Returns because it's lengthy and oldschool

The stupidity of these guys knows no boundaries.
By the way, I just completed the demo and I'm really satisfied with it, nice to see that some games still require you to think.

That has to be a new low - which is pretty amazing given the lows of the gaming media.
I guess the problem is no longer the suits unwilling to finance cerebral games, but the journalists unwilling to use their brains - but who are all too willing to spread their ignorance as gospel.
That's a scary scenario.

I will have a constant boner 'til the game is released. FML

Wow, those "journalists" get more and more stupid and derpy.
I say fuck them. I'm gonna buy this game because it felt awesome and reminded me of DE1. Don't care what they say, I mean, who here actually still gives a damn about reviews and the opinions of the so called journalists?
I'm gonna buy it and I hope a whole metric shit ton of other people will do as well.
Because this game is a step in the right direction. Away from the derpy modern day military shooter and that's a freaking good thing!
I have a little bit of hope that this could at least be the start of the change gaming needs.
Don't kill my hopes, please?
