Well hello there humpers, how's it hanging these days?
Good? Nice to hear.
Enough smalltalk then.

It's about time I upgrade my CPU and therefore I also need a new mainboard.
Currently I'm running a Athlon 64 x2 4200+
with 4GB of DDR2 RAM
and a Radeon HD 5770
on a MSI K9A Platinum mainboard (which always has been a piece of shit anyway).

And I start to feel that my CPU has become quite the bottleneck by now.
So, I need a new one but since the K9A Platinum is a piece of shit and doesn't support anything but AM2 x2 CPUs I need a new one as well.
Now, I don't need the most cutting edge board whatsoever.
Gimme a board that supports my RAM and a decent CPU and I'm good.

I'd be totally ok with an AM2+ board that supports AM3 cpus for now, like I said I don't look to upgrade my RAM right now.

tl;dr?
I need a new CPU and mainboard.
Price range? 200€ max would be nice (I hope that a AM2+ board that supports AM3s comes quite cheap)
and tbh (if that wasn't apparant enough) I'd like to stay with AMD.

Recommend away, I'm grateful for every response.

Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P + AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

From personal experience its a great budget motherboard.

And the reason I would recommend 965 over the 955 is because theres only a $20 retail price difference and they do actually have different overclocking potentials. People might say its the same chip but you take a look at the overclocks people reach on OCN, you will notice majority of 4Ghz+ come from the 965. I had a 965 and reaching 4Ghz is no easy task unless you have a water cooling loop or have an ice cold room

ASRock seems to be a great value for the money deal lately Smile
