Just use a gamepad on your PC then, that's what I did. Since you've got a PS3; simply hook your PS3 controller via USB and use MotionInJoy drivers/emulator =)

Erk... well, I don't think this is the game for you You know me mate, I'm a huge mega-sucker for aRPGs - especially ones like Dark Alliance and Fallout BoS. Obviously they will NEVER be as good as the proper PC counterparts, but they have a special place in my heart nonetheless. This is no different. Dungeon Siege 3 is to Dungeon Siege 1/2, what Dark Alliance 1/2 was to Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal. It's practically identical in every way - but I no longer see that as such a terrible crime.
I've just finished the game (19hrs or so) and, despite reservations from playing the demo, I absolutely UTTERLY loved it. Start to end, I loved it. I see now why it's an Obsidian game... the attention to detail is excellent, the voice acting is solid and believable - no hammy bullshit or bored-sounding VAs, the music is very fitting, tons and tons of backstory and lore and the visuals are (to ME! please don't fight me on this guys, it's purely subjective) gorgeous. Gorgeous lighting, tons of attention to detail, smooth animations, loads of flashy spells It's not a small game either, it certainly never felt "cramped" to me - though obviously take into account my love of console aRPGs.
If you're not rushing, just taking it at a normal - leisurely - pace, expect a good 17hrs or so. Yeah, it's a lot shorter than I'd like and definitely shorter than DS1/DS2, I won't excuse that, but they packed so much into it that the length felt "just right" --- and it's RIPE for a sequel/expansion too. There's not many games that leave me clamouring for additional content, but this is definitely one of them. I now rate this above and beyond any of the Snowblind-engine titles on Xbox/PS2.
+ Visuals are gorgeous (some low-res textures) with some impressive lighting.
+ Audio is great, highpoint being the voice acting.
+ Loved the story, it was incredibly fleshed out with tons of lore and a proper ending!
+ LOOT! Tons of it. Typical aRPG fare; White, Green, Blue, Orange.
+ Level design. Varied and enjoyable with a lot of exploration. Recycle Age 2 this ain't.
+ Better than Dark Alliance 1/2 + Champions of Norath/Call To Arms.
+ No bugs! No, seriously, it's an Obsidian game and I don't recall encountering any bugs of note.
+/- Quests. Lots of them, very few fetch quests, mostly monster-killing related. Fleshed out with plenty of lore though.
+/- C&C. Plenty of choices and they affect the gameplay/ending quite a lot, though I've only played through once so I couldn't compare the different outcomes.
+/- Characters. In the demo I played Lucas, the stereotypical Tank class, but in the full game I played as Katarina - the markswoman. She RULES. Seriously OP, but I liked it
- UI. It's hideous, make no mistake about it. Clunky and chunky. Pain to navigate, made for consoles.
- Controls. Oh dear god WHY? Use a gamepad or expect to fight them. Again, made for consoles.
- One companion party limit. Such a waste.
- "Only" 9 skills per character. 6 attack, 3 defence. Skills take longer to "Master" than available playing time.
- Game length. It felt ok to me, but definitely wanted more. Seasoned gamers expect 14-16hrs.
- Multiplayer is apparently non-persistent. I've not confirmed this myself, but if it's true it's a massive insult to Dungeon Siege.
- It's not Dungeon Siege 1 or 2. Pre-built character classes (grrr...) and no customisation outside of loot/skills.
I like this a helluva lot. Definitely going to buy it once the price drops as, right now, it's not worth the €50 asking price. IMO. Hopefully Obsidian don't just dump this without any aftercare ... we NEED more content! An expansion! A quick turn-around sequel! DLC cities! SOMETHING. The ending was conclusive enough, but it did leave the door open.. and damn it I want MOAR!
8/10 for console aRPG fans.
5/10 for hardcore cRPG fans.

i'm 2 and a half hours into the game as reinhart or whoever and am enjoying the game.
a really lame how the inventory and quest log is set up though. Having no big map and using the magical line to follow is always lame. Aw well as the mouse/keyboard controls but other than that its ok.
id say 6.5/10

I;m at the point where I have to help the queen and ask for teh meisters help. The conversation made it seem like it's a diversion point, go for the queen or teh meisters. Is this the case or can I go to both?

Just finished it and the controls aside its a pretty good game. Though I wonder if we'll be able to use our savegames for any expansions as I'm sure there'll be at least one.

It can't get more enjoyable than it is at the start because of how hand-holding and linear it is. The characters are annoying and retarded as fuck. That game is full of stupid design decisions.

Well, as might be expected I really didn't like it much, but I won't rage about it, or the state of Obsidian, out of respect for those that like the game.
I ended up playing Wizardry 8 instead

@Epsilon: Don't forget to plug-in your 360 controller, the game becomes much more enjoyable once you drop the extremely obsolete m&k in favour of the gamepad

dumb question, but what button (on a controller) do you use to activate defensive abilities? didnt read that popup because i thought it would be LT + the button to use first ability, but now it turns out i am mistaken. the ingame help only says '4, 5, 6' but to my knowledge an x360 controller doesnt have buttons like that.
i am using a dual shock with x360 controller emulator (posted by pillermann). if you tell me what key does that on your 360 controller i guess i can by from that
