So much sheep! Spend our money, spend it on idiot that is covering the pedophiles, who is encouraging ppl not to think!
Aaarrgh!!!! I'm so frustrated! I want to move away from these idiots!
His fucking visit will do us good
Yeah if by good you mean more than 5 mil € from our pockets.
So much good could have been done with that money. We don't have enough assistants on the university because the state is in the recession and has to save money. FUCKING HYPOCRITES!!!
Ppl are starving, >350000 have no jobs, but hey his fucking visit will do us good... -.-"
Country filled with idjts!
I want to go to NZ!!! It's like paradise there (the scenery is beautiful and I've read that the girls are easy )...
sigh
*rant over

@Dingo: the more a country is economically wasted, the more religion is needed to keep people quiet giving them false hopes (*Pope's manual, 3:16*)
And think of us who have to deal with him and pedofriends on daily basis
We even have treaty that gives Vatican ~40 mil € per year... I mean wtff?! Plus bunch of other stuff like rebuilding fucking churches instead of homes and schools...

well at least you don't pay church tax like in other EU countries (introduced by hitler - who else - here in austria ). tons of cash which goes from people's wallets to the church by default and apparently no one cares

At least here that only happens if your registered religious affiliation is with the church. I changed mine to non-religious as soon as I could do it independently, they aren't getting a dime from me!

But if you don't want to you don't need to. We have no choice! Automatically 300 mill kn (~40 mil €) goes directly on the Vatican budget...

considering that around probably 90+% of the people in most european countries get baptized and then just stick with it for various reasons, those few intelligent (atheist) or even dumber (sects) ones that don't pay won't make much of a difference.
and yeah, was fun back then when the church eagerly awaited their taxes from the first decent cash i earned and all they got was a big "FU i'm out" letter

Sometimes I have the same feeling dingo_d, once a year we have a day called "Prince's Day". A day when the (not mine) queen speaks from the throne. She often recites something: "Zo waarlijk helpe mij god almachtig". Meaning something like: "So help me god almighty."

But the humour is lost in non translation I am afraid.

Sorry man but I disagree with you. I believe work is in your HEAD. If you want to make yourself useful, no one's going to stop you really. (Unless you live in some kind of extreme country like North-Korea). In fact people would probably love it if you would be so bold to take the initiative. For instance, people in Africa complain there is no work where they live. They have to emigrate or else they can't do anything. I think that's bullshit: Africa needs to be build up from the ground, but people refuse to take the initiative. Nowhere on the entire planet, there's more work to do than in Africa!
I think that's the whole problem: attitude. People in the West got rich because they didn't want to WAIT until someone gave them a job. They actively look what they can do to make their region better and improve people's lives. If you can't get a job you MAKE your own job. And then increase productivity twice, three times, ten times.
Initiative and productivity, I think those are some of the most valuable traits Western people have acquired over time.
And by increasing productivity I mean, for example, building a factory that specializes in a few parts and can produce them fast and cheap. Almost everyone in Africa is hard working. But their productivity is low, so sadly despite their efforts the continent stays poor.
I understand leaving your country is very tempting because of the moronic attitude of your fellow countrymen. But on the other hand if few people are willing to invest their energy in Croatia, the inevitable conclusion is the region may never develop.
OK I know I'm probably sounding preachy by now... but I just had to get this off my chest.
As for emigrating to New Zealand: my roommate had no problems whatsoever to go to New Zealand. He wanted to do some Ph. D research. He then decided to stay permanently and got a fine job. The thing is: you are Croatian. People won't say it out loud but I suspect the government WILL start bitching in your case. I know it's not a nice thing to say but as you said yourself, the general attitude in Croatia is lousy. People abroad are also aware of this fact. Rich Western countries have a very different reputation so people may give them the benefit of the doubt much more quickly.

The problem isn't solely in the ppl. Sure a big part are complaining and wouldn't lift a finger, but there are tons of those who are willing to work but the bureaucracy won't allow them.
The government is so corrupt that you can only get a job if you have 'someone from the inside'.
My sisters boyfriend finished uni almost two yrs ago. When the times weren't that bad, he worked as an apprentice in this big firm, and he had nice pay.
But shit hit the fan, his one year of apprenticeship was over, and he cannot find a job. He is looking every day, but he cannot find a job. No one is hiring! He found a job as logistics manager for this new taxi company, but the banks screw the owner - he had the assurances and the money, but didn't have political connections so he couldn't get the licence, so he had to quit. And it was an innovative idea - eco taxi (cheap taxi, with all priuses and other 'eco friendly' cars).
More and more young ppl are desperate and are trying a way to get out. Not because they don't want to work, but because they don't have a place to work.
My friend finished psychology, worked 1 year as a volunteer without pay with kids in kindergarten. She was offered a job as a ranger in the nearby nature park! And she had to call the ppl there and say that she cannot do that job, but she had to apply because they would kick her from the labor exchange (where you get info about available jobs), and would loose health insurance.
Croatia has one of the most complicated bureaucracy in the world. That's why no one wants to invest in it.
Our economy is in the drain, we have massive debt...
The only thing that keeps me going is the notion that I'll get the hell out as soon as possible.
Which reminds me, I need to start looking for some places in NZ with physics xD
