According to the wikipedia it's Europe, but if you'd compare actual continents, not continent vs. state, North America would win (NA vs. Europe ofc)...

What do you want to compare?

The european continent is indeed bigger then the USA, while the European Union is a lot smaller.

EDIT (wiki):
North America: about 24.900.00 sq km

USA: 9.826.675 sq km

Europe (continent): about 10.500.00 sq km

European Union: 4.324.782 sq km

By eye I'd have said USA, but the numbers don't lie (I mean the continent, not the EU)

Anyway a better formulated question would be

Voted Europe cause, as a continent, compared to the country USA, is bigger in area. The EU is a lot smaller and getting its area into account would be laughable.

As one can see, Texas is the size of the larger European countries. Obviously, that map doesn't include Alaska nor Hawaii. Alaska is twice as large as Texas.

Not entirely sure how people could be voting Europe. Seems to be a pretty trivial question if you've ever looked at a globe.

Europe is more of a political distinction. Eurasia is the continent and it is by far larger than the area of USA.

You would think people would be smart enough to realize he was referring to 'USA' and 'Europe' .. Like he did. Last time I checked USA wasn't a continent.

No, I wasn't commenting on that. Europe is a political distinction, not continent. But even then, when you take into account that a portions of Russia and Turkey are in Europe, Europe is indeed larger.

You can speak of continental Europe but that excludes the UK, Ireland, Iceland, etc. Besides being a political distinction (as mentioned by iNatan) the countries share cultural roots going back to the old Greek era and Roman empires. The area that was named Europe has been expanding north throughout the last 20 centuries though.

Funny thing is as the map posted by Mchart shows that a lot of people think of Western Europe (the allies during the Cold War) if they read or hear Europe.

I realized after the fact (to be honest) that said map didn't include the eastern european countries. Even so, after including them the USA is still larger, even more so when you consider the size of Alaska. (Alaska is fucking massive given it is a single 'state' in the US)

I guess it all falls down to if we are including some of Russia or not.

Part of Russia belongs to what is commonly defined as Europe. So it does not "fall down to" if you include it or not. It is, by definition, included.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
