I'm surprised they didn't say "you'll need a $5000 PC to run it". |
Because you don't. |
I was referring to their ignorant statements from the past like "you need a $5000 PC to run Crysis". Gametrailers' anti-PC bias is well known.

Are there any Sapkowski fans here? I am really curious about Vandergrift - what's his story, why is he called the Visitor?

Act 2 is even better than Act 1, it's grander. Me likes.

Really positive review, I think that even some misbelievers have been stunned by this game |
Kevin VanOrd did a great job presenting the game as it is. But the final Gamespot score doesn't seem to match the actual review. One would expect at the end of the review to see a 9.2 or even 9.5 game.
EDIT
They gave it only a 9.0.

Why are you guys so passionate about everyone having to love this game? People are entitled to their own opinion. IMO I find witcher 2 boring at times, mainly because the lack of real exploration. You dont lose yourself in the game world as for instance morrowind where you could completely abandon the mainstory and just do side quests and create your own gaming experience.
Its kinda immersion breaking to see all those ingame cutscenes, especially at the end of act 2.
All this aside, this is a terrific game though. One I really enjoy and sometimes almost dont want to play because I dont want it to end.
Dont mess with God, he can impregnate your girlfriend/wife without taking his pants off!

Not everyone has to love this game, but when someone compares this game with Final Fantasy it just shows that that person has no clue.

Personally I find open world games like Oblivion boring... matter of tastes
"Oh look I can get lost"... in a world of nothing and shitty quests... whatever, to each his own

@acer
Not bashing you, but the kind of game I find shallow, Morrowind was good but I prefer other type of RPGs...
My point is: why "complain" about the open world aspect of TW2 when it clearly isn't that kind of game ? Or does every RPG need to be open world to be good ?

Yeah I see your point. To me an rpg is as much about exploration as story driven gameplay. You take on a roll, you become someone else and your given a world to explore and also to explore the character and develop skills, get new items etc

The_Leaf wrote: | Guys I keep hearing how act 2 changes completely based on decisions in act 1, unfortunately I have very little time to play games so I don't think I'll be able to do a second playthrough Given that, can someone describe me briefly the two possible scenarios (no spoilers if possible, just "where you end up") and what is in your opinion the most interesting of the two? |
Spoiler: | Its a bit hard not to spoil much, but basically if you leave Flotsam with Roach you end up in King Henselt's army base. If you go with the other option you are in Vergen (a dwarf town) who is fighting against Henselt. The main quest is the same (curse) but is completed in a totally different way. Also the side quests are totally different. I'm currently in the second playthrough, going with Roach this time, and for now it's impossible to decide. |

The guy's a noob, no doubt about it, but there's no way he deserved the kind of reaction and hate he got - so fair play to him. It's pretty amazing how badly some people get treated if they go against the status quo, it really is.

Btw, didn't this game come with a manual?
I mean, how fucking hard is it picking up the manual and sifting through some of the pages to find what it is you're looking for (and I'm not speaking about part17 but in early video where he's under attack from the dragon, he keeps switching between run and walk a couple of times)?!?
This idiot can't even figure out how to toggle run/walk because he's too lazy to look in the manual or even the keyboard setup. -.-
Obviously this is not a game for him, he's more suited for something like hello kitty online...
