where to find large quantities of gold? at what depth? i was in 1300 feet depth and no gold,.. just litle chunks of gold, 3-7 chunks, below 1000 feet is damn hard to play, those fire imp are F boring, and where is demon altars?, what's with corruption area? thx

Demon altars are placed randomly, on the only world I've played in (small size) there were some very close to the surface. Gold veins certainly seem larger as you go deeper - but they seem to occur just as rarely. I'd try the level just before the lava sections start. Corrupted areas are for more advanced characters, it also spreads slowly, and can be stopped by planting sunflowers.
Check the wiki overlord posted - it has decent amount of information already. The game certainly leaves a lot to be discovered on your own, the guide really gives only basic information.

It's XNA, unless the server gets ported to Mono there's nothing to do (Maybe Wine?)
