If someone can’t figure out how to flash an xbox then they’re sure as hell aren’t going to be technically inclined to use this device. Modders FTW. |
Wtf? I do not understand how to flash an Xbox. But this device looks just so simple that I have to get it. Copy ISOs to an external hard drive, connect it to X360 key, connect that to the X360... and you're in business.

So let me get this right. This device needs to be physically plugged into the X360 mainboard via an SATA cable? So we have to open up our consoles? Unless this is the case, then I don't see how you can say it'll be undetectable.

Yes, that is the case mate =) The device acts as a direct hardware link; you need to open the machine, hook it to the onboard SATA controller. The YT video from the x360key team shows that the device is plugged directly onto the board and without the DVD drive.

First of all, I said I was just speculating, so I may be wrong of course.
Secondly: yes, you need to hook it up to the sata. However, the point of this tool is to act as a replacement for the original drive, ie: it passes itself as a real x360 dvd drive, while it's actaully a software-emulated drive.
Now, the only way for MS to comunicate with the drive (real or fake) is to send commands through the sata cable and see how the drive responds. There will, obviously, be a set of "correct responses" hardwired in the 360 firmware that describe how a real drive is supposed to behave and respond. So my point is: IF the fake drive is accurate in simualting the real one, MS can't detect it (detect that it is fake that is). If it doesn't behave like the real one, it WILL be detectable by future dashboard updates. However, if that happens, the devs of such device can (and presumably will) update the emulator software to correct the incorrect responses, and so make the device usable again.
So in the end: a device like this CAN be undetectable, as long as it is programmed correctly to respond to each and every command with the correct response and behaviour. Whether it WILL be on day one or it will need updates to achieve this is unknown (the latter being the mos probable scenario imho).

Ok fair enough, in which case I can see it being technically possible. But they always find a way of banning this shit.
Anyway, surely taking apart the console is 90% of the flashing effort. If I have to take it apart, i'd rather just flash the drive and not waste £100

I would have bought the x360usb Pro *if*, and only if, there was absolute confirmation that it could flash my LiteOn despite the fact that it's already been flashed with LT 1.0 and I no longer have the drive keys. As a matter of fact, the last time I checked Team Xecuter's website, the answer was an emphatic NO! If flashed with LT 1.x, and without the keys, you *need* to do an MRA solder/cut hack.
If you can disprove that, I'd be happy to buy the x360usb.

You can just use the Probe 3 to extract the key right?

Lost the key?
I managed to get the key with jungleflasher, erase the old firmware from the drive and then while writing the new firmware, jungleflasher stopped responding. Tried a lot of things but can't get the drive in vendor mode(tried both dosflash and jungleflasher).
Then all this shit about a new DVD standard and I just said fuck it. I'll wait thill a new drive firmware arrives and send it to the guy who did the original flashing of my drive, with the copy of my firmware key. Hopefully the drive isn't bricked.
Hardware: Ryzen 3700x, B450 MSI Gaming Pro carbon AC, GTX1080, 32 GB 3200 Mhz cas 14, 256 EVO SSD, 1 TB EVO SSD and 4 TB HDD.
Console: xbox, wii and xbox 360

Normally I'd agree but Mr Modchips doesn't work like that and never has; if you'd used them you'd see that. They are the prime UK resource really for all things modable and at the very least they'd give a bad review but still stock it and sell it at rrp. They arent even doing pre-orders which kinda says a lot.
I just wonder what xecuter and the like are up to.

Well the XODE is coming soon, from the same makers of the Wii's WODE, and apparently it's going to be less than half the cost.

Aw damn... oh well. Have you got a source, please mate? I tried looking online and the only stuff I found was from a couple of French sites - nothing elsewhere :\

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah.... I think I'll wait for some more sources, I'm afraid. LS are full of shit 90% of the time (you should see the fakes that come out of that place in regards to PS3) and GX-Mod? Never heard of it.
I'm not calling you a liar, mate, but I prefer to wait for official - recognised - sites to report whether it's real or not.

I'm just saying that both of those articles are identical, which means GX-Mod reported it - and LS ran with it, as always, since they never check their sources. Xbox-Scene hasn't mentioned anything about it being a fake.
~edit~
GX-Mod claim WODE deleted the forum, but as you can see;
http://www.wodejukebox.org/index.php?sid=67da516d1b065681b14cd853b92d2512
Still there - and the moderators/Admin still say it's real.
