Um no, it specifically says no flashing required? Just plug and play, I mean that's the whole appeal of it.

Here's a very useful chart someone on XboxScene has put together explaining the difference's between this x360key, a Jtag and a normal flashed console.
http://bit.ly/hpBKrj < link's to a Google doc's PDF file.

I saw a few sellers on Finn with JTAGs, but they're all 3000kr+ Ouch.
Sorry to hear about your corruption stuff, luckily your guy can fix it for you at least.

No, you need to connect the motherboard inside your 360 as well, it runs between the main 360 motherboard and the actual DVD drive itself.

a little off-topic but what tha fuck, lots of people here in brazil are connecting to live with banned consoles (using latest non-beta dash).
I don`t have a banned console to test this but sure someone here could test it?

I actually thought about connecting to live today, just to see if I'm really banned. But the router is sooo damn far away from the box that I gave up on that thought. Now that I've heard this... actually the router is still too far away to bother.
I'm guessing it's just a glitch given the whole Amazon NA server crash that took place the last few days.

Plus I'm happy because it means I'll be able to play recent games again! I can't flash my drive to LT+ (for AP25 titles) since I accidentally lost the keys and who knows what will happen when XGD3 comes out? |
But don't you think you will have to input your drive model and key to get this to work? Or does it intercept the necessary info on the SATA bus (coming from your real drive)? I already saw modding shops offering to install the thing for you. Maybe it's not as easy as simply pluging it between your drive and the motherboard? If you need your key I won't be able to install it myself.
The price seems also to be quite high. If you click on "Buy it!" at x360key.com you get a link to foxchip.com where it costs 99 €. I guess it's worth it, though.

It's exactly as you said; it's a pass-through device that intercepts the input from motherboard > DVD drive, parsing the data onto the x360key controller instead. There shouldn't be any need for drive keys at all. €99 is expensive, I was thinking they'd price it around $100, given the price of the WODE (same device, only for the Wii instead)
I'll just wait and see what the price does.
