But on normal browsers, just the current tab gets slowed down, while in FF the entire thing just freezes and sometimes even crashes. |

As for the moment, Opera renders the page faster (mainly the initial rendering) than Chrome on my side.

opera has no problems at all with it but I'm thinking about the nfohump processors. I'd say that our texts are stored raw in the database and that while rendering the page all : face: and other emoticons are regexp'd. So we are just hurting the hump, no?
Well... this is almost as bad as clicking on this link http://www.nfohump.com/forum/search.php?search_author=iNatan <- that brings the whole hump to a halt for some seconds
So please no more hammering the humps  <3
